TransUnion is seeking a Lead Engineer for Applications Development to join their core team. This role involves enabling new features and optimizing strategic solutions within Digital Onboarding (DO), TVIS, and Fraud Prevention Exchange. The successful candidate will have accountability and freedom to ensure the quality of systems, blending multi-disciplinary software testing skills with leadership. Responsibilities include clarifying requirements, contributing to impact assessments, conducting test design, planning, automation development, and execution. The role also involves manual testing, exploratory testing, identifying automation opportunities, providing guidance to team members on unit and regression testing, and potentially performance and scalability testing. Training and knowledge transfer on Digital Onboarding features will be a key aspect. The ideal candidate will have six or more years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance, strong experience in various testing phases, designing and developing complex enterprise applications, and automation test development. Experience with GitHub, Source Tree, Microsoft Test Manager, Jenkins, SQL server, implementing test automation libraries, and high-volume, low-latency transaction systems is required. Strong experience managing an Agile Scrum delivery team is preferred.
Must have:
  • Six or more years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance

  • Experience with SQL server

  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent leadership skills
Good to have:
  • Certifications are preferred
  • Experience with Decisioning software development is preferred
  • Experience with Mobile app development is preferred
  • Experience working in onshore & offshore model is preferred

This role is for a Lead Engineer that will operate as a member on the core teams of specialists that are responsible for enabling new features and optimizing strategic solutions within TransUnion’s Digital Onboarding (DO), TVIS and Fraud Prevention Exchange.

What You'll Bring:

As a lead member on our agile scrum teams, you will have both the accountability and freedom to ensure the quality of the systems that are taking TransUnion and DO to the next level.  Success in this role requires a blend of skills in multi-disciplinary software testing functions relating to the health, performance, security and quality of systems, and leadership.

How You’ll Contribute

  • Works closely with agile team members and regional team to clarify requirements, ensure testability and automatability, to provide feedback on design (functional and technical)
  • Contributes to impact assessments from Feature enhancements on system level interactions, and existing automated test suites
  • Conducts Test Design, Test planning, Test automation development, and Test execution
  • Writes automated tests for high availability and highly scalable applications which will be used by both internal and external customers
  • Conducts Manual Testing, and uses strong Exploratory Testing to uncover weaknesses in test approaches
  • Identifies opportunities for reuse so as to design and implement test automation libraries
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to Scrum team members to assist them in developing robust Unit Test and regression test suites
  • May conduct performance and scalability testing
  • Responsibilities include doing test case review / bug analysis, analyzing development and test impacts, writing test tools and identifying automation opportunities
  • Contributes to improvements in unit testing coverage, design test framework, develop test suites, expand automated testing harness and automate scenarios/cases
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer on DO features with Subject Matter Expertise of Digital Onboarding, FPE, Global IDV and eventually TVIS

  • Six or more years of hands-on experience in a software quality assurance profession
  • Strong experience in various phases of testing, designing, and developing complex enterprise applications, including automation test development
  • Experience with GitHub, Source Tree, Microsoft Test Manager, and Jenkins
  • Experience with SQL server
  • Experience in implementing test automation libraries
  • Experience with High-Volume , Low Latency transaction systems
  • Strong experience managing a team operating under an Agile Scrum delivery methodology, any certifications are preferred.  
  • Experience with Decisioning software development is preferred.
  • Experience with Mobile app development is preferred.
  • Experience working in onshore & offshore model is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to provide alternative solutions to technical problems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent leadership skills

This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
