Job Description

The Manager, Product Operations directs product development initiatives, overseeing product owners and operations across multiple product lines. This role involves collaborating with senior management to set product portfolio objectives, and ensuring efficient product development and deployment. Responsibilities include directing strategic focus, leading product teams, creating operational excellence, and ensuring effective product governance. They will also be responsible for building alliances across business units and managing a team of associates based in either Canada or India. This position requires a hybrid work schedule with regular in-person presence at a TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
Must have:
  • Experience with Agile framework, Product and Program management.
  • 7+ years of experience in Product Management/Operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and strong communication skills.
  • A natural curiosity and advanced problem-solving abilities.
Good to have:
  • Advanced degree in Business/Commerce or related field.
  • Financial Services experience highly preferred.

What You'll Bring:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with an advanced degree in Business or Commerce or a related field
  • Experienced with working with Agile framework, Product and Program management, Operational efficiency initiatives
  • 7+ years of progressively senior experience in Product Management and/or Operations, or a related discipline. Financial Services experience highly preferred
  • Expert at teaming effectively with others across different disciplines, functions and organizations
  • The individual must have demonstrated experience in leadership skills, reasoning skills (analytic ability), and strong communication skills for listening to customers and business executives and clearly articulating needs and opportunities
  • Must be able to lead the work of others even those without direct responsibility. Must be able to work independently and in group settings. Must have proven experience functioning as a lead on various projects. Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Adept at articulating strategic plans, operational/tactical execution plans, and go-to-market plans
  • A natural curiosity and advanced problem-solving abilities
  • You are an Analyst at heart and you are at your best when you can apply strategic-thinking to complex business problems;
  • A high bias to action and proficiency around execution
  • You understand and thrive when leading in a matrix environment and are able to effectively lead through influence;

Impact You'll Make:

Directs product development initiatives through managed teams who focus on recognizing, developing, and executing new products for multiple assigned business units. The incumbent is competent in all phases of product management and oversees the product owner and operations functions across multiple product lines. This position creates and maintains a structure that effectively collaborates with senior management to set product portfolio objectives and strategies, along with distribution channel strategies. The overall objectives and strategies include all aspects of a robust development and deployment strategy.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Directs the strategic focus of product management efforts to support growth of multiple product lines, translating corporate objectives into actionable plans. Consults with senior management on business strategies and alignment of goals across the organization
  • Ensures goals and measures for processes and products to shorten speed to market, as well as the tools and framework are in place for execution against goals and product development processes
  • Lead a team of product owners and provide high level of expertise around product management disciplines.
  • Oversees direction for their area of concentration, balancing needs of multiple business units within resource constraints
  • Create opportunities for greater efficiency, operational excellence, portfolio reporting and prioritization as it relates to product management and development
  • Ensure products are developed with a clear view of market need and exceptional user experience
  • In conjunction with product strategy leaders, ensure new product line extensions and enhancements are proficiently developed and launched
  • Ensures governance practiced for robust product management intake process – concept through delivery
  • Collaborate with senior management to refine and manage the prioritization process for product related items, and engage the key stakeholders in the process and ensure clear communication
  • Build alliances across all business units and serves as the focal point for sharing best practices across enterprise product management areas. Proactively consults with business unit leaders to set strategic direction, understand business issues, share information, and solicit feedback on product efforts
  • Builds development plans for associates to assist in career planning
  • Team Management: Manage a team of associates that may be based in either Canada or India

This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
