Omitron is seeking a Mid-Level Astrodynamics Developer to support the U.S. Space Force by developing and maintaining critical astrodynamics software for tracking objects in Earth orbit. The role involves creating and maintaining applications to process space operations data, supporting the US Space Force's high-accuracy catalog, and advancing space situational awareness. Responsibilities include developing data processing scripts, providing software test support, designing solutions, participating in deployments, and collaborating with senior engineers. This position is ideal for an astrodynamics expert with strong programming skills who wants to contribute to national defense.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Astrodynamics, Orbital Mechanics, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Hands-on software development with Python, shell scripting, Fortran
  • Experience in space situational awareness or algorithm development
  • Familiarity with RedHat Linux
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Must reside within commuting distance of Colorado Springs, CO
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret clearance
Good to have:
  • 10+ years of experience in orbital dynamics or satellite tracking
  • Proficiency in Python, Fortran, or shell scripting
  • Experience creating software test and validation plans
  • Background working in Agile development teams
  • Operational experience with Astrodynamics Support Workstation (ASW)
  • Knowledge of Space Force missions and structure
  • Data analytics expertise
  • Active DoD Secret or higher clearance
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification

Location: Colorado Springs, CO (Hybrid)
Clearance Required: Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance (current DoD Secret preferred)

About the Role:
Omitron supports the U.S. Space Force by developing and maintaining critical astrodynamics software used to track objects in Earth orbit. Our tools generate the two-line elements (TLEs) and high-accuracy orbital catalog that form the backbone of trusted space situational awareness data.

As commercial and governmental interest in space continues to accelerate, our software development team plays a vital role in advancing both day-to-day operations and cutting-edge research. In this role, you'll be creating and maintaining applications to process space operations data and support maintaining the US Space Force’s high accuracy catalog.
This is an exciting opportunity for an astrodynamics expert with strong programming skills looking to make meaningful contributions to the future of space domain awareness.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain data processing scripts and applications
  • Provide software test support for applications created by other members of your team
  • Design innovative solutions to real-world problems
  • Participate in operational deployments and software delivery cycles
  • Collaborate with senior engineering staff throughout the development cycle
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Astrodynamics, Orbital Mechanics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, plus 6+ years of relevant experience or 10+ years of directly related experience in lieu of a degree
  • Hands-on software development experience, particularly with Python, shell scripting, and Fortran
  • Direct experience in space situational awareness operations or algorithm development
  • Familiarity with RedHat Linux environments
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Must reside within commuting distance of Colorado Springs, CO

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this role is $125,000 to $165,000, depending on relevant experience, location, and other factors.
