The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Policy Lead to join our dynamic Public Affairs team. Reporting into the PA Director (either in Berlin or remotely from another country office), you will play a crucial role in developing and executing our global policy strategy, engaging with key external stakeholders, and advising internal teams on complex regulatory challenges. What You'll Do:
Policy Development: Lead the research, analysis, and development of Delivery Hero's positions on key policy issues, including but not limited to platform work, competition, digital services regulation, urban mobility, and sustainability. Provide expert policy advice and strategic guidance to product, operations, and other internal teams.
Internal & Cross-Team Partnerships: Build and foster efficient, bold cross-team partnerships at central level and across our global operations. You will understand our tech offering inside out and engage especially closely with legal, product and logistics teams.
Dossier Tracking & Analysis & Options Mapping: Lead the tracking, analysis, and interpretation of legislative and regulatory dossiers emanating from EU institutions. Mapping of policy options and implications for our operations. Collaborate extensively with subsidiaries and legal teams to ensure thorough analysis of legislative texts and mapping of policy options.
Project Oversight: Initiate and oversee group-wide projects designed to mitigate and effectively respond to evolving policy risks. Drive these across teams and entities.
Engage with industry associations: Strategically interact with industry associations at European level to advance Delivery Hero's policy objectives and represent the company in relevant discussions.
What You'll Bring:
Experience: Approximately 8-10 years of professional experience in public policy, government relations, regulatory affairs, regulatory compliance, or a related field, preferably within a major technology company, a fast-paced operating business, or a leading consultancy/law firm.
Preferred experience:
A legal qualification (e.g., JD, LL.B., LL.M.) or equivalent deep understanding of legal frameworks and regulatory processes is highly preferred.
Demonstrated experience working within an operating company, giving you an understanding of business drivers, operational realities and policy dynamics at a local level.
Strong understanding of policy issues relevant to the tech sector, gig economy, e-commerce, or food delivery industries (e.g., labor law, competition policy, data protection, digital regulation).
Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically, identify emerging trends, and develop proactive & creative policy solutions.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex policy issues clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences. Proven ability to build strong internal partnerships and consensus, influencing stakeholders effectively across diverse internal teams and functions.
Global Mindset: Experience working in an international context and an appreciation for diverse regulatory landscapes.
Languages: Fluency in English is essential. Fluency in French is preferred.
