THE ROLE

Matific is seeking to own the data function. This will include developing and maintaining the data infrastructure as well as leading the BI and data engineering function. This is largely a hands-on position and includes leading a small team. Matific is looking for someone who is incredibly smart, passionate, talented and simply gets stuff done. Given the scale-up nature of the company, you will need to be flexible and inventive in the delivery of your strategy. Our data infrastructure is fully AWS cloud based.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the company’s data engineering function and improve the data architecture.
• Together with the team, build and maintain the company’s ETL and data flows.
• Assist the product, web and app development teams with any data-related tasks and queries.
• Build and maintain both our applicative databases, our data warehouse and data-related AWS services.
• Mentor, guide and nurture junior members of the team.
• Participate in organization level initiatives and add value in this leadership role.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) & interpersonal skills in English
• Passion for data and an attention to detail
• Self-starter with 'can-do' attitude in a dynamic work environment
• 8+ years of experience in data architecture or in a data related role.
• In depth knowledge in AWS, Linux, SQL, Python, and Latest Database trends
• Previous experience with streaming data pipelining tools such as Kafka is an added advantage.
• Deep knowledge of SQL query performance optimization
• Understanding in AI and ML concepts is an added advantage
