Job Description

The Senior Tools Designer will join the team working on their first tactical RPG game, aiming to create an unforgettable experience for players. The responsibilities include conducting research on the current state of tools, designing content tools in collaboration with the UX team, collaborating with internal teams like design, tech art, UI, and art, defining automation tests and ensuring a high-quality standard, working with external parties to identify quality of life improvements, offering technical support, ensuring cross-departmental communication, creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation, and mentoring. The role requires at least 5 years of relevant experience, technical mindset, experience with mod tools, and Unreal Engine experience, a patient communicator, and analytical mindset.

Our client is growing their team to work on their first title and are looking for an experienced Senior Tools Designer to join them. Their next game is a tactical RPG and they are aiming to create an unforgettable experience for the players.
 
Responsibilities:
  • State of the area research: Perform competitor analysis, review modder feedback on competing tools etc to define best pracises and ambition level for content tools.
  • Content tools design: Identify tool requirements and define userflow in cooperation with the UX team.
  • Collaboration with internal teams: work closely with design, tech art, UI and art to ensure a cohesive approach to content tools design.
  • Quality Assurance: Define automation tests to check integrity of content tools and perform regularly test and give feedback to maintain high-quality standards.
  • End-user research: Work with external parties to identify quality of life improvements for tools and suggest priorities to the production team.
  • Technical Support: Offer technical support to external parties for the tools.
  • Cross-Departmental Communication: Communicate effectively with different departments to ensure a consistent and cohesive approach to content tool development.
  • Project Documentation: Create and maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of content tools.
  • Mentoring: Provide guidance and mentorship to Mod Outreach Program members and mod teams.
 
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Technical mindset, with a good understanding of Engine limitations
  • Experience with using mod tools for multiple games
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4/5 preferable
  • Experience dealing with player feedback and requests
  • Good organizational skills
  • Very good, patient communicator
  • Analytical mindset
