The Sr. Manager Supplier Engineering is responsible for ensuring high-quality performance from supplier partners by applying Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) during the industrialization of Philips products within the New Product Introduction (NPI) process. This role involves managing quality, mitigating business risks, and collaborating with engineering leaders across various sites. The manager will develop and implement a robust long-term supplier strategy, provide input to strategic decisions, resolve operational issues, and manage supplier relationships. This role requires communicating the needs for IQ/OQ/PQ and the consequences to product quality, Factory Management, and Business Impact. The candidate should be able to troubleshoot and guide the supplier in failure modes associated with Process Validation and Verification at Suppliers.
Must have:
  • 8+ years of engineering experience.
  • In-depth product manufacturing comprehension.
  • Experience managing engineering teams for at least 3 years.
  • Strong Manufacturing Engineering background.
  • Expert working knowledge of manufacturing systems.
Good to have:
  • Strong commodities knowledge in Extrusion, Stent, Sheet metal, machining and electronics.

In this role you

Responsible for achieving a state of high quality performance at our Supplier partners through the application and practice of Advanced Product Quality Planning ‘APQP’ during the industrialization of Philips products/parts within the New Product Introduction ‘NPI’ process.


Your role:

  • Manage quality and drive the team in mitigating business risks and overcoming related challenges. Manage stakeholders engineering leaders across sites of IGTD and ISC organization for report out of External process validation and contract manufacturers. Develop and implement a robust long-term supplier strategy for the product family.
  • Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional areas of manufacturing operations
  • Resolve escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
  • Manage supplier relationships to partner with Intuitive and the supplier effectively. Ensure suppliers are compliant with the Intuitive quality management system.
  • Communicate at business level the needs to IQ/OQ/PQ and consequence to product quality, Factory Management, and Business Impact. Able to troubleshoot and guide the supplier in failure modes associated with Process Validation and Verification at Suppliers (Familiarity with APQP and/or PPAP is plus)

You're the right fit if:

  • Bachelor Degree engineering (Master Degree is plus). 8+ years of engineering experience (Manufacturing Engineer and/or Product Quality is plus).
  • In-depth product manufacturing comprehension including rationales and limitations.
  • Previous experience of managing and directing engineering teams at least for 3 years.
  • Strong Manufacturing Engineering background to drive problem solving and E2E process improvement. Expert working knowledge of manufacturing systems
  • Strong commodities knowledge in Extrusion, Stent, Sheet metal, machining and electronics are plus.

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

    Philips Transparency Details

    The pay range for this position in Plymouth, MN is $108,000 – 175,000, Annually. 

    The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.    

    In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered.  Employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive Philips Total Rewards benefits program, which includes a generous PTO, 401k (up to 7% match), HSA (with company contribution), stock purchase plan, education reimbursement and much more.  Details about our benefits can be found here

    At Philips, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case.

    Company relocation benefits will not be provided for this position.  For this position, you must reside in or within commuting distance to Plymouth, MN.
