As a Staff Mechanical Engineer, you will apply in-depth knowledge and experience in electro-mechanical product development to design and develop products using polymers, metals, and rubbers that closely interface with PCBs and high-power electrical components. You will work with global development teams to present ideas and feedback. The role involves problem-solving in new product development, identifying and resolving field failures, and implementing cost reduction opportunities. You will be responsible for designing (70%) & testing (30%) new components and products. Manage mechanical design projects and adhere to project timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards.

About the role: 
  
As a Staff Mechanical Engineer, you will be applying your in-depth knowledge and experience in electro-mechanical product development to the detail design and development of products that use polymers, metals and rubbers and which closely interface with PCBs and high-power electrical components.  
  
You will be working closely with team members across our global development team, so your spoken and written communication needs to be clear and effective in order to be able to present your ideas, your concepts and your feedback.  
  
You will be problem-solving on new product development, identifying and resolving root causes of field failures and implementing effective cost reduction opportunities. 
  
    What you will do: 
      
    • Designing (70%) & testing (30%) of new components and products, sometimes as sole contributor but often as part of a team of contributors. 
    • Manage assigned mechanical design projects, adhering to project timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards. 
    • Perform day-to-day CAD (3D & 2D) activities and documentation. 
    • Conduct periodic design review with mechanical teams & cross functional teams. 
    • Reviewing and analyzing solutions to achieve the best outcome for performance/cost/schedule 
    • Product testing (DVT) & Testing proof-of-concepts and prototypes for performance 
    • Failure analysis and root cause identification 
    • Component review and approval, including global travel to be on-site at vendors during pre- production stage. 
    • Generating own (and reviewing others’) documentation, including concept proposals, analysis reports, component specifications, review minutes 
    • Ensure quality by design. 
    • Product testing (DVT) & Testing proof-of-concepts and prototypes for performance 
    • Design and execute comprehensive test plans (Inhouse and external lab) to verify mechanical performance against design specifications, including static and dynamic loading, fatigue testing, environmental testing, and reliability testing. 
    • Analyze test data, identify potential issues, and implement design improvements to address any deficiencies.
