Job Description

Zoox is seeking a Staff Vehicle Attribute Engineer to develop the vehicle attribute deliverables for a new autonomous robot platform. You will work with experts in areas like vehicle dynamics, noise & vibration, thermal, drive performance, energy, safety, ergonomics, geometric integration, and CAE. Your responsibilities include owning the vehicle attribute development, setting and cascading performance requirements, balancing attributes, creating development plans, and driving decisions against competing requirements. You will report on attribute status and ensure the delivery of a well-balanced platform fit for autonomous driving, serving as a key link in bringing a high-quality product to market.
Must have:

Job Details

At Zoox, we have set the goal to provide our customers with a high-quality product, while also delivering the highest level of safety while using our fully autonomous vehicles. You will work with a team of world-class engineers with diverse backgrounds in areas such as robotics, controls, and vehicle engineering, to develop the specific attribute deliverables. You’ll support the vehicle attribute director by taking ownership of the vehicle attribute development of a new robot platform. You will be working with the attributes experts in several areas, such as vehicle dynamics, noise & vibration, thermal, drive performance, energy, safety, ergonomics, geometric integration, CAE, and others.  You will be responsible for the attributes balancing, status, development plans, gate reviews, and eventually driving a well-balanced platform fit for autonomous driving.   You will be an integral link to successfully developing and delivering a high-quality product to market. 

In this role, you will:

    • Own the vehicle attributes development of a new autonomous robot platform.
    • Own the Vehicle Technical Specification, all attribute requirements.
    • Provide technical leadership on vehicle technical specification targets definition and cascading down to systems and sub-systems.
    • Balancing attributes and supporting program imperatives.
    • Creating development plans aligned with program milestones, working with the CAE and geometric integration teams in the virtual development.
    • Drive decision process against competing requirements including cost, mass, driving range, safety, timing and others.
    • Report out attribute status and escalate critical issues as appropriate.
    • Delivering overall attribute status against the agreed-upon targets. 

Qualifications

    • Engineering degree with at least 10+ years hands-on experience in automotive attribute development in one of the specific requested areas.
    • Experience with setting and cascading performance requirements
    • Experience with virtual development
    • Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Experience reporting to leadership.
    • Experience in data compiling, assessment, and documentation.

Bonus Qualifications

    • Experience developing pure electric vehicles and autonomous systems preferred
$182,000 - $251,000 a year
Base Salary Range


There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
