ProbablyMonsters seeks a Systems Engineer, Engine (Core Technology) to manage internal game engine releases, develop shared functionality across multiple game projects, and integrate with a game services platform. Responsibilities include investigating cost-effective solutions, supporting game teams with engine adoption and service integration, identifying feature gaps, and fostering a collaborative work environment. The ideal candidate possesses experience with game engine fundamentals, Perforce, Visual Studio, C++, and game services. They should be skilled in managing shared code repositories and providing support to internal customers. The role involves working collaboratively with various teams to achieve collective goals and continually improve the game development ecosystem.

  • Unreal Engine architecture expertise

Job Details

THE ROLE:
ProbablyMonsters is looking for a talented Systems Engineer, Engine (Core Technology) with experience in engine fundamentals and game service integration to work on our central technology infrastructure supporting the creation, release, and operation of multiple games.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Manage internal game engine releases for adoption by various game teams.
  • Develop and manage shared functionality for use across multiple game projects.
  • Investigate, advocate for, and implement cost effective solutions to act as a technology force multiplier.
  • Drive integration with a game services platform and support game teams with adoption of the services needed for their project.
  • Help game teams integrate engine releases and adopt shared code to support the needs and features of their games.
  • Work with game teams to identify and fill gaps in features, workflows, and tooling with an eye toward reuse across teams and projects.
  • Openly support team members and customers as we work to achieve our collective goals.
  • Continually strive to provide a world-class game development ecosystem to our internal teams..
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with game engine fundamentals, particularly in non-gameplay areas.
  • Experience with Perforce, especially across multiple streams, depots, and servers.
  • Skilled with Visual Studio and C++.
  • Familiarity with game services, from authentication and social to matchmaking and stats.
  • Demonstrated success supporting internal customers.
  • Managed a repository of shared code, ensuring broad applicability while maintaining a focused purpose.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Expertise in Unreal Engine architecture and core systems.
  • Launched one or more games, contributing to major features or core systems.
  • Experience designing, developing, operating, and scaling game services.
  • A history of building and maintaining internal customer trust, fostering a collaborative relationship to ensure provided solutions find customer adoption.

Compensation:

  • This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt (salaried) position.
  • The full salary range for this position is $95,000 - $138,000 per year. The upper third of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. When an offer is made, many factors are considered, such as your unique experience and skills, where you live, where the work will be performed, what similar jobs pay and internal equity.

In addition to base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for additional incentives, such as short- and long-term incentives. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
