Zeeco is seeking a Controls Engineer specializing in Software Programming. The role involves designing, programming, and testing PLC software, HMI, and SCADA configurations for Burner Management Systems, Flare Ignition Systems, Thermal Oxidizers Controls, Vapour Control, and Flare Gas Recovery Systems. This includes selecting appropriate functional blocks and programming languages to meet global standards like EN-746-2, NFPA-85, and IEC-61508. Key responsibilities include preparing design specifications, participating in HAZOP and LOPA reviews, and providing support for quotations, sales, field trips, and on-site commissioning. The ideal candidate will be familiar with User Defined Specification (UDS) and Functional Design Specification (FDS) documents.
Must have:
- 5-6 years experience in TIA and Siemens S7-400/300/1500 BMS PLC systems
- Experience in Oil/Gas, Petrochemical, or combustion industries
- Competent in PLC, HMI, SCADA, and electrical panel design
- Familiar with Modbus, RTU, TCP/IP, Profibus, Profinet
- Familiar with control panel building and relay logic
- Conversant with P&IDs
- Knowledge of safety systems and European Safety Standards
- Knowledge of Hazardous area standards (ATEX)
- Full UK driving license
Good to have:
- Experience with Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Honeywell, HIMA PLC systems
- Familiarity with control panel building and hardwired relay logic
- TUV certified safety professional or equivalent
- Knowledge of Safety Integrity Level (SIL), IEC 61508, 61511
- Knowledge of combustion industry and EN/NFPA standards
- Willingness to travel by various means (air, boat, car, helicopter)

About the position:
- As our new PLC software Programming Engineer you will be responsible for designing, programming and functional testing of the PLC software, HMI and SCADA configuration for our Burner Management Systems, Flare Ignition Systems, Thermal Oxidizers Controls, Vapour Control and Flare Gas Recovery Systems.
- This PLC software requires the selection of correct standard functional blocks, programming languages meet to specific requirements of the latest global standard such as EN-746-2, NFPA-85, IEC- 61508, IEC- 61508 and user specification.
Key responsibilities:
- Design, Programme and Test software for systems and controls with Zeeco systems and products
- Prepare Cause and Effect diagrams and Functional Design Specification and User Defined Specification.
- Participation in HAZOP, LOPA and SIL review meetings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. Some of these duties may include: -quotation/sales support, field/sales trips, on site commissioning support and overseas meetings.
- Ideally should be familiar with User Defined Specification [UDS] documents and Functional Design Specification [FDS] documents, review and amend accordingly.
Knowledge/skills & experience required:
- Minimum 5 -6 years of experience in TIA, and ideally Siemens S7-400/300, S7-1500 hot redundant BMS PLC system in Oil and Gas or Petrochemical industry or combustion related industry.
- Ideally hold a Degree (Instrumentation /Electrical/ Electronic Engineering) or HND.
- Competent in PLC, HMI and SCADA and electrical panel design.
- Experience of PLC Systems preferable (e.g. Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Honeywell, HIMA)
- Familiar with different communication systems between PLC's and DCS systems such as Modbus, RTU, TCP/IP, Profibus and Profinet.
- Familiar with the control panel building and hardwired relay and timer-based logic.
- Conversant with P&IDs.
- Ideally TUV certified safety professional or equivalent qualification for the PLC programming.
- Knowledge of: Safety systems for controls, European Safety Standards, Safety Integrity Level (SIL), IEC 61508 and61511.
- Knowledge of Hazardous area standards(ATEX)
- Knowledge of the combustion industry and applicable EN and NFPA standards (desirable).
Transport:
- Full UK valid driving license required
- Willingness to travel by Air, boat, car, helicopter, etc. as required based on business needs
- Live within commutable distance from Stamford, Rutland LE15 7QT.
