Help Build Groundbreaking AI for Gamers as our new Data Scientist

If you’re ready to combine your passion for AI and gaming into something extraordinary, this is your chance. We’re on a mission to revolutionise how the world discovers, interacts with, and creates games and we need your expertise to make it happen.

How We Make an Impact

Gameopedia began with a simple mission: to be the ultimate gamer friend, helping gamers discover the best games with top-tier recommendations. Today, we've grown into a company that delivers industry-leading video game data and insights to some of the world’s biggest companies, including Google, YouTube, Samsung, LG, and Amazon, shaping millions of gaming decisions globally.

As the global leader in game metadata, with metadata for more than 200K games, we are benefiting from the advances of LLM’s and fast becoming an AI-first company; crafting advanced AI solutions that transform the gaming industry, enhancing game discovery, personalisation, and game development. At the core of this effort is our specialised domain-specific LLM, designed to combine the power of large language models with deep gaming knowledge to shape the future of gaming.

How You'll Make an Impact

As a Data Scientist, you’ll be a driving force behind our Gaming LLM. You will be instrumental in building models capable of understanding nuanced game descriptions, classifying game elements according to complex taxonomies, and generating accurate, structured outputs for integration into our products and APIs, directly contributing to our mission.

What we expect you to do

  • Fine-tune LLMs using domain-specific data, ontologies for enhanced game classification and understanding.

  • Develop and implement strategies for hierarchical classification and reliable structured output generation (e.g., JSON).

  • Design and execute experiments to evaluate and continuously improve model performance.

  • Manage datasets for training and evaluation, ensuring quality and relevance.

  • Collaborate with engineers to integrate models and stay updated on relevant AI advancements.

What We Think You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Master's in a relevant quantitative field (CS, AI, Data Science).

  • Proven experience fine-tuning LLMs and strong understanding of ML/DL/NLP principles.

  • Hands-on experience with structured output generation and validation from LLMs.

  • Proficiency in Python and common ML/DL frameworks (PyTorch, LangGraph, CrewAI, Hugging Face etc).

  • Experience with ontologies, taxonomies, RAG, LORA fine tuning and prompt engineering techniques.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Bonus XP (Nice-to-Haves)

  • A love for gaming — this is not only about data science.

  • Experience with gaming data, game metadata, or working in the gaming industry.

  • Experience with hierarchical classification problems.

  • Knowledge of MLOps, agentic AI systems, or microservice architectures.

  • Familiarity with LLM platforms (e.g., Fireworks.ai, OpenAI, etc.)

We think you’ll thrive with us if you are:

Someone who’s passionate about building AI that actually understands — not just predicts. You love the challenge of applying AI to real-world, domain-specific problems, and gaming is a domain you either love already or are eager to explore. Your curiosity pushes you to constantly iterate, experiment, and improve, always striving to make your models smarter and more reliable.

You take pride in working autonomously, designing creative solutions without waiting for someone to tell you exactly how. At the same time, you understand that great AI is built by teams who share knowledge and complement each other's strengths. You enjoy collaborating with engineers, designers, and fellow data scientists to achieve meaningful results. Above all, you value honesty, precision, and creating technology that enhances the experiences of gamers around the world.

What You’ll Get From Us

  • A passionate team that’s shaping the future of gaming! Plus, you’ll finally get to say, “I work in the gaming industry!” – how cool is that?

  • Managers and teams who genuinely care about you – not just as an employee, but as a person. We value who you are, your well-being and your personal growth.

  • An attractive compensation package, which includes comprehensive health insurance, paid parental leave, a solid pension plan and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), so you can share in our growth and success.

  • A collaborative, inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are truly valued and every team member is empowered to contribute, innovate and grow. With open communication, involvement in decision-making, cross-functional teamwork and access to both personal and professional development resources, you’ll have the support to thrive.

  • An international environment, connecting with colleagues and customers worldwide, including Norway, India and the US.

  • Hybrid work is cool with us! Just pop by the office occasionally so we remember what you look like. And when you do, you’ll find us conveniently located next to Lillestrøm train station – just a quick 10-minute ride from Oslo S!

  • Work-Life Balance – We get it, life happens! Whether it's errands, appointments, mental offloading or family time, you get the flexibility to shape your schedule.

  • A work culture built on our core values: We go above and beyond (“Extra-Ordinary”), we put people first (“Human-Centric”), we stay dedicated (“Committed”), we communicate openly (“Clear & Transparent”) and we always do the right thing (“Integrity”)
