Job Description

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions for chip and display manufacturing. As a DevOps Technical Lead, you will be the focal point for DevOps aspects within the product's R&D team. Your responsibilities include building and maintaining product delivery flows, gathering requirements from stakeholders, researching and implementing new tools and technologies, and building proof-of-concept labs. You will conduct design reviews, facilitate brainstorming sessions, develop top-level implementations, and perform comprehensive unit and functional testing. Additionally, you will deliver solutions with clear documentation, user manuals, and implementation guidelines, and support stakeholders in their retrieval and implementation. The role requires excellent verbal and written English communication.
Must have:
  • 6-10 years of DevOps experience
  • 6+ years building CI/CD systems
  • 6+ years developing DevOps solutions with Jenkins, Azure Pipelines, GitHub Actions
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform)
  • 2+ years Linux administration and Bash scripting
  • 4+ years Cloud environments (AWS, Azure)
  • 4+ years Kubernetes administration
Good to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
  • Knowledge of networks, switching, IP addressing, DNS
  • Understanding of databases and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Search)
  • Experience with Linux/Windows image creation and Packer

Key Responsibilities: 

  • R&D team Focal Point for the product computing DevOps aspects. 

  • Build and maintain the product delivery flows. 

  • Gather requirements from stakeholders. 

  • Research, learn and implement new tools and technologies. 

  • Build and configure proof-of-concept labs to evaluate the pros and cons of each alternative. 

  • Conduct design reviews of your selected solution from among the alternatives and outline the next steps. 

  • Facilitate brainstorming sessions with stakeholders to identify any required top-level developments / implementation for the solution. 

  • Develop the required top-level developments / implementation for the solution. 

  • Perform comprehensive unit testing & functional testing to ensure that all requirements are met. 

  • Deliver the common solution in a technically clear manner, including documentation, user manuals, implementation guidelines, support details, etc. 

  • Support stakeholders with the retrieval and implementation of the common solution. 

Hands-on Qualifications Required: 

  • Excellent verbal and written English 

  • 6-10 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer as DevOps solutions Developer  

  • At least 6 years experience in Building and managing production critical CI/CD systems, pipelines and solutions 

  • At least 6 years experience in Developing DevOps solutions with Jenkins, Azure pipelines, Github Actions, Nexus and Jfrog Artifactory or similar 

  • Strong experience creating and managing Infrastructure as a code and configuration management solutions with Ansible & Terraform on cloud or on-prem systems 

  • At least 4 years experience with Advanced Knowledge in Ansible

  • At least 3 years experience with Advanced Knowledge in Terraform

  • At least 2 years experience with Linux administration, Bash, scripting 

  • At least 4 years experience with Cloud environments administration (AWS, Azure)  

  • At least 4 years experience with Kubernetes Administration, HELM, Kubespray, Rancher or similar 

  • Self-motivated, approachable, and adaptable   

  • Experience in international, multi-cultural teams 

 

Advantages: 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent Engineering degree. 

  • Knowledge of networks, switching, vlans, Ip addressing, DNS 

  • Understanding of Databases and monitoring solutions like Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Search, SQL server, Mongo, PostgreSQL 

  • Linux/Windows images backup & restore, creation and Packer
