Job Description

The Legal Counsel is responsible for ensuring the organization's operations comply with legal requirements, company policies, and ethical business practices. This role acts as a business partner, providing legal support and advice across various departments. The Legal Counsel will draft, review, and negotiate agreements, manage corporate housekeeping, collaborate with departments like Trading, Technology, and HR, and monitor new legislation. The ideal candidate will have a UK Law degree, 3-5 years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal counsel role, and demonstrable knowledge of Contract Law and UK Corporate Law.

Core Responsibilities

The Legal Counsel is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s operations are conducted in compliance with legal requirements, company policies and ethical business practices. The Legal Counsel acts as a business partner, provides legal support and advises across various departments.

The new Legal Counsel position is a junior attorney looking to become an all-around In-house Legal Counsel who reports to the Senior Legal Counsel in our London office.

Your responsibilities include but are not be limited to:

  • Contract drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements, including commercial-, inter-company-, IT/IP-, and procurement agreements, as well as trading and technology related agreements
  • Corporate housekeeping, including drafting corporate resolutions and UK Companies House and contract management filings
  • Collaborating with and advising various departments, including Trading, Technology, Risk & Compliance, Finance, HR, and Procurement
  • Monitoring developments and implementation of relevant new legislation

YOUR PROFILE

  • Academic degree in UK Law
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant experience at a Law Firm and/or In-house Legal Counsel
  • Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with Contract Law, and preferably with UK Corporate Law
  • Motivated, proactive with a hands-on mentality and a strong sense of urgency
  • Strong and confident communicator
  • Collaborative team player with a good sense of humour
  • Ability to act independently and perform successfully in a fast paced, technology driven and at times high-pressured environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
