Job Description

The AI for Science team at ByteDance is seeking a Machine Learning Scientist to help revolutionize biological science through the development of large-scale foundational models. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a related field, strong experience in NLP, CV, RL, generative models, or computational biology, and proficiency in Python and PyTorch. Key responsibilities include collaborating with team members to understand biological challenges, implementing innovative solutions for tasks like complex structure generation and molecular design, and staying up-to-date on advancements in the field. Must have:

PhD with publications in top-tier ML conferences or related journals
Research experience in NLP, CV, RL, generative models, or computational biology
Highly proficient in Python and PyTorch
Extensive experience in driving projects from concept to implementation
Comfortable with learning new methods and capable of working effectively in rapidly changing environments
Demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills, a creative mindset, and a passion for tackling challenging problems

The AI for Science team has been focusing on tackling challenges in natural sciences, including biology, physics, and materials, with computational tools such as Machine Learning, Computational Chemistry, High-throughput Computation. Our goal is to create breakthroughs in natural science with new methodology and help the world. One of our goals is to revolutionize biological science through the development of large-scale foundational models that can be applied to a wide range of biological systems and tasks. To achieve this, we seek to discover model architectures that are both general and scalable in terms of data and parameter size. Responsibilities: - Collaborate closely with team members from diverse fields to deeply understand the data and the context of biological challenges, ensuring that test metrics are aligned with real-world applications. - Utilize innovative and critical thinking, actively implement your ideas in biological tasks such as complex structure generation, molecular design, and develop unified multimodal models that integrate sequence, graph, structure, function, and properties. - Stay updated on recent advancements and actively discuss and share insights with team members.

Qualifications

1. PhD with publications in top-tier ML conferences or related journals, possessing research experience in NLP, CV, RL, generative models, or computational biology. 2. Highly proficient in Python and PyTorch, with extensive experience in driving projects from concept to implementation. 3. Comfortable with learning new methods and capable of working effectively in rapidly changing environments. 4. Demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills, a creative mindset, and a passion for tackling challenging problems. 【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $177688 - $341734 annually.​
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​

We cover 100% premium coverage for employee medical insurance, approximately 75% premium coverage for dependents and offer a Health Savings Account(HSA) with a company match. In addition to Flexible Spending Account(FSA) Options like Health Care, Limited Purpose and Dependent Care. ​
Our time off and leave plans are: 10 paid holidays per year plus 17 days of Paid Personal Time Off (PPTO) (prorated upon hire and increased by tenure) and 10 paid sick days per year as well as 12 weeks of paid Parental leave and 8 weeks of paid Supplemental Disability. ​
