Job Description

Chamberlain University seeks a Project Manager to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of solutions supporting business goals, primarily focused on campus and online expansion efforts. This role involves managing projects from inception to completion, collaborating with project owners, consultants, and third-party vendors. Responsibilities include analyzing project needs, developing detailed project plans with timelines and resource requirements, tracking progress, managing multiple projects within budget and on schedule, identifying and resolving obstacles, and coordinating project teams. The Project Manager will also provide input on resource utilization, coach team members, and communicate project progress and issues to clients. The role requires adherence to all company policies and standards.
Must have:
  • BS/BA degree
  • 5 years of full lifecycle project management experience
  • Knowledge of PMBOK or equivalent methodology
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Initiative and ability to manage multiple initiatives
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all organizational levels
  • Ability to manage diverse business and vendor resources
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficient with project management practices and tools
  • Capability to influence and instill credibility
  • Ability to meet project milestones, deadlines, and budget

Opportunity at a Glance
The Project Manager is assigned to work closely with various groups to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of solutions in support of business goals and objectives.  While responsibilities are mainly focused on managing projects that support both campus and online expansion efforts, this role may support other projects as needed.  This individual will work closely with project owners, consultants and other third party vendors as needed.    

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes project needs and identifies resources required.
  • Develops detailed project plans, which include key activities, timelines and resource requirements needed to achieve project objectives while adhering to an appropriate systematic development process.
  • Tracks and documents completion of work plan activities and initiates efforts to advance the project as needed.
  • Manages multiple projects according to plan while monitoring, measuring and reporting on progress to ensure project is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Modifies tasks, sequencing, and resourcing as appropriate to maintain progress.
  • Identifies and addresses obstacles ensuring appropriate resolution.
  • Manages project teams and related implementation activities according to project plans
  • Provides input into how to use resources more effectively and coordinates/negotiates any staffing changes with managers.
  • Balances use of vendor and internal resources.
  • Coaches and develops team members in support of achieving the project objectives
  • Provides feedback to the project team members as appropriate.
  • Communicates project progress and issues to clients, especially related to the impact of changes to project resources, scheduling scope and delivery.
  • Works closely with groups involved to ensure smooth implementation.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree Required 
  • Master's Degree in Business or Project Management Preferred
  • 5 years of full lifecycle project management experience including knowledge of PMBOK or other equivalent methodology, Required.
  • Experience in an academic enterprise, Preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve issues and determine effective business and alternative solutions.
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to advance projects while managing multiple initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels within the organization and work in a fast paced environment with many initiatives.
  • Ability to manage a variety of business and vendor resources.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Proficient with project management practices and tools.
  • Capability to influence and instill credibility in sponsors, peers and subordinates by meeting project milestones, deadlines and budget.
  • PMP certification, Preferred.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $61720.78 and $111584.97. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
