Job Description

This part-time Romanian Localization Video Game Tester role in Montreal involves ensuring the quality of video game translations. Responsibilities include checking language quality in texts and audio files across various media, reporting errors (spelling, grammar, syntax, translation) in a database, suggesting corrections, identifying inconsistencies, and ensuring cultural adaptation for the Romanian market. The tester will use evaluation sheets/checklists to report to a Lead Tester. Strong Romanian and English language skills (written and spoken), detail-orientation, and team-work skills are essential. Experience in translation/localization is a plus. Minimum three days per week availability is required. The role necessitates a good understanding of English as client data is primarily in English, and English is the main communication language with clients and collaborators outside Quebec.

As a tester, you’ll be responsible for:

– Ensuring the quality of video game and related software translations, checking the quality of the language used in various texts and audio files on different media.

– Enter all spelling, grammar, syntax, punctuation and translation errors into our database.

– Suggest an appropriate and suitable correction to provide the excellent translation quality sought by our customers.

– Identify any inconsistencies in the story, lack of context, inappropriate terminology, etc.

– Ensure that content is well adapted to the language, culture (e.g. cultural references) and Romanian market. – Report these tasks using an evaluation sheet and/or checklist to your Lead Tester.

Skills:

– Detail-oriented.

– Ability to work in a team.

– Rigorous and autonomous. – Comfortable using IT tools (Excel, Google Sheets and Google Drive).

Requirements:

– Deep knowledge of culture and language.

– Ability to communicate in English, Romanian both orally and in writing.

– Ability to understand texts of varying complexity in English.

– Experience in translation or localization an asset. – Be available AT LEAST three (3) days per week.

En tant que testeur, vous devrez :

– Assurer la qualité de la traduction de jeux vidéo et parfois de logiciels, en vérifiant la qualité de la langue employée dans différents textes ainsi que fichiers audios sur différents supports.

– Reporter dans notre base de données toutes les fautes d’orthographe, de grammaire, de syntaxe, ponctuation, de traduction incorrecte.

– Suggérer une correction appropriée et adaptée afin de fournir l’excellente qualité de traduction recherchée par nos clients.

– Repérer toute incohérence dans l’histoire, manque de contexte, terminologie inadéquate, etc…

– Assurer que le contenu soit bien adapté à la langue, à la culture (références culturelles par exemple) et au marché Roumain.

– Faire un rapport de ces tâches à l’aide d’une feuille d’évaluation et / ou d’une checklist auprès de votre Lead Tester.

Compétences :

– Être pointilleux(se).

– Capacité à travailler en équipe.

– Être rigoureux(se) et autonomie.

– Être à l’aise dans l’utilisation d’outils informatique (Excel, Google Sheets et Google Drive).

Requirements

– Connaissance approfondie de la culture et de la langue Roumaine.

– Être capable de communiquer en anglais, aussi bien à l’écrit qu’à l’oral.

– Être capable de comprendre des textes plus ou moins complexes en anglais.

– Expérience en traduction ou localisation, un atout. – Être disponible AU MOINS trois (3) jours par semaine.
