Summary

UMG is seeking a dynamic Senior Director, Artist Liaison to join the Artist Liaison Team in New York. This role requires full-service support across various categories, collaborating closely with artists, label partners, and internal teams. The Senior Director will utilize expertise to provide comprehensive support and innovative solutions, ensuring flawless global execution. Responsibilities include: integrating with label workflows, enhancing process and workflow, communication of release calendars, executing campaigns to the highest standards, fostering innovation, monitoring business metrics, developing merchandising strategies, collaborating with marketing and sales, overseeing client presentation materials, and more.
Must have:
  • Knowledge of contemporary and urban music
  • Awareness of latest fashion trends, particularly streetwear
  • Understanding of launching e-commerce product campaigns
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to create and manage launch calendars
  • Represent the company in meetings and events
  • Experience in apparel, music, and/or ecommerce
  • Minimum 10-15 years in brand management, brand building and marketing
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

How we LEAD:

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Director, Artist Liaison to join the Artist Liaison Team, based in New York. This individual will be instrumental in collaborating closely with our artists/clients and label partners. The role requires the Senior Director to deliver full-service support in an expansive range of categories. This includes working closely with our Brand Management Team, Label Marketing Teams, and Direct to Consumer Teams, actively participating in the long-term direction and setting goals for our clients.

The Senior Director, Artist Liaison, will utilize their expertise to help provide comprehensive support and innovative solutions to help ensure our plans are executed flawlessly across the globe. The Senior Director will work in close conjunction with our VP, Artist Liaison, as well as our Brand Management Team, to help organize and coordinate strategies with our label partners. This coordination is central to the revolving planning around our shared roster and key events in our Artists’ careers.

How you’ll CREATE:

  • Full integration into our label partners' workflow, enabling seamless collaboration and enhancing synergy between teams, leading to more efficient execution.
  • Continual education and improvement of our process and workflow to enhance methods, fostering a culture of constant learning and growth.
  • Thorough communication regarding planning and release calendars, ensuring alignment and understanding among all involved departments, mitigating potential conflicts and delays.
  • Ensuring campaigns and strategies are executed to the highest standards globally.
  • Encouraging creative contributions as they apply to our capabilities, fostering innovation, and welcoming fresh ideas that align with our core competencies and enhance our creative output.
  • Monitoring and analyzing business metrics to optimize product lines and maximize commercial opportunities, utilizing data-driven insights to make informed decisions and capitalize on market trends.
  • Working closely with artists and their management, alongside our Brand Management team, to develop tailored merchandising strategies that result in optimal revenue opportunities, while maintaining the artists' brand integrity.
  • Collaborating with marketing, sales, and direct-to-consumer teams regularly to develop integrated marketing campaigns around artists, ensuring a unified approach that resonates with the target audience and maximizes reach.
  • Overseeing the development of existing and potential client presentation materials, effectively communicating vision and values, and ensuring that all communication reflects the brand's identity and mission.

Bring your VIBE:

  • Knowledge and personal fan of contemporary and urban music.
  • Deep awareness and interest in latest fashion trends, particularly “streetwear” and urban fashion trends.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of launching e-commerce product campaigns inclusive of platforms such as Shopify.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders, including artist management, creative and production, to facilitate the development of products from inception to finished product, including design solicitation, approvals, setting production specs and quantities and quality assurance.
  • Responsible for asset delivery to internal creative department from artists and management.
  • Create and manage “launch” calendar for all products and initiatives – coordinate with talent mgmt. on all corresponding events – music launches, tours, anniversaries, etc.
  • Responsible for representing the company in meetings, at shows and on calls with management and bands/brands.
  • Overseeing special projects for the department as necessary, including pop up shops, special events, etc.
  • Create and design brand presentations for clients, retail sales, brand partnerships, and collaboration opportunities.
  • Creative and able to think out of the box.
  • Analytical and understands business revenue models.
  • Experience in apparel, music, and/or ecommerce preferred.
  • Minimum 10-15 years in brand management, brand building and marketing.
  • Great communication skills, written and oral, interpersonal and group settings.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Microsoft office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
