Team Liquid is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to build and maintain their MediaWiki platform services. This role involves designing and developing back-end solutions to aggregate and process Liquipedia data for their app and a non-commercial free API. While the primary focus is on back-end development, there will be opportunities to contribute to front-end aspects. The engineer will work on unique projects, partner with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the growth of Liquipedia, esports, and gaming. Responsibilities include designing scalable back-end systems, optimizing data processing with caching services like Varnish and Memcached, writing clean code, refactoring legacy services, collaborating with stakeholders, conducting testing and debugging, and staying updated with industry trends. The role requires coordination with teams in Europe, necessitating availability during core hours aligned with UTC+4.
Must have:
  • 3+ years of experience with TypeScript / Node
  • Experience with data processing optimization and caching
  • Experience with MariaDB and MongoDB
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal communication)
  • Availability during UTC+4 core hours

  • Experience with React and JavaScript frameworks (SSR)

The Opportunity:

Do you have experience as a senior full stack engineer working on highly custom solutions? Are you interested in gaining deeper insights into the gaming and esports space? If so, you could be a great fit for the Senior Full Stack Engineer, Liquipedia role at Team Liquid.

As the Senior Full Stack Engineer,, you will play a key role in building and maintaining our MediaWiki platform services by designing and developing back-end solutions that help aggregate and process Liquipedia data for use in our Liquipedia App and by third-party clients through our non-commercial free API. While the focus is primarily on back-end development, you will also have opportunities to contribute to front-end aspects of Liquipedia’s technical architecture.

You’ll work on unique, engaging projects, partner with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the growth and success of Liquipedia, esports, and gaming. Your work will directly enable Liquipedia’s community of volunteers to report on esports and contribute to the growth and success of Liquipedia, esports, and gaming.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Design, develop, implement, and deploy scalable and efficient back-end solutions
  • Build scalable back-end systems that handle large volumes of data and API requests
  • Work on optimization using high-volume caching services like Varnish and Memcached
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry best practices
  • Refactor existing (legacy) services for a sustainable future
  • Work with engineers and stakeholders to find creative solutions as we build core parts of our infrastructure to better suit the needs of our platform going forward
  • Conduct thorough testing and debugging of back-end systems to identify and resolve any issues or bugs
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure continuous improvement and innovation
  • Work alongside engineers, product managers, volunteers, and the wider contributor community to translate business requirements into technical specifications, ensuring the right tools and features are developed to advance the platform

What You'll Need:

  • 3+ years of experience working with TypeScript / Node in a professional environment
  • Experience with data processing optimization, such as caching
  • Experience working with MariaDB and MongoDB
  • Fluent in English
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • This role requires availability during core hours aligned with UTC+4, which corresponds to early mornings or late evenings in the Philippines and Indonesia. This schedule enables effective coordination with teams and partners based in Europe and other regions.

You'll Earn Bonus Points If You Have
