At Zoox, you’ll collaborate with a world-class team with diverse backgrounds in areas such as AI, robotics, machine learning, controls, computer vision, simulation, design, and automated testing. You will be challenged to rethink what it means for hardware design to develop a purpose-built vehicle that drives itself. In this position, you will be responsible for the hardware that manages the control and sensing functions of our occupant protection system. This includes the occupant restraint control module, acceleration sensors, deflection sensors, and controls. You will collaborate closely with the Vehicle Safety Team to define requirements, deliver the necessary hardware, and support vehicle-level integration and testing.
Must have:
  • Define system and component requirements based on vehicle-level specifications
  • Lead development of hardware components with suppliers, managing open items and change requests
  • Develop system-level test plans to validate operation and diagnostics
  • Collaborate with vehicle integration, program management, and manufacturing teams to ensure hardware and software are developed in sync with testing and production needs to meet company milestones
  • Own both mechanical and electrical integration of the hardware, and support the delivery and testing of new firmware releases
  • Collaborate with reliability and testing teams to define design validation plans and execute necessary tests
  • Support testing, bring-up, and manufacturing activities and conduct root cause analysis for any reported issue
  • BS or MS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems engineering, or a related field
  • At least 8 years of experience in automotive or aerospace hardware development

Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical, Kechanical, Systems engineering, or a related field
  • At leat 8 years of experience in automotive or aerospace hardware development
  • Familiarity with communication networks, electrical system integration, and diagnostics
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects with clear, effective communication
  • Hands-on experience with 3D CAD and PLM tools
  • Experience with safety-critical electronics and a solid understanding of system safety or systems engineering processes

Bonus Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with CATIA V5/V6 and 3DX
