POSITION: Social Media Specialist (6 Month Contract)

DEPARTMENT: Esports – Vancouver Surge

REPORTS TO: Senior Business Operations Manager

TERM: Date of Hire until June 30, 2024

POSITION SUMMARY: As the Social Media Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in contributing to the development and execution of comprehensive marketing strategies, content development and social media output. Your primary responsibility will be to create engaging and compelling content across various channels to enhance our brand presence and drive audience engagement. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, video and corporate partnerships, to create top-tier online and in-person experiences for our fans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned as required)

  • Create unique content and assist with management and strategy for team social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok and other emerging platforms

  • Work closely with teams across the organization, such as corporate partnerships, to generate content that helps achieve organizational priorities

  • Assist with fan engagement and responses to social media postings

  • Participate in team meetings, providing input and suggestions related to social media and other areas as needed

  • Watch and facilitate content output during Game Days

  • Manage the content schedule to ensure all deadlines are being met for day-to-day deliveries and sponsorship campaigns

  • Manage community events and tournaments, including managing the Surge Discord server and our Surge Fan Ambassador Program to foster positive fan experiences

  • Document and report on key metrics, evaluating project outcomes against defined KPIs and building contingencies to pivot if required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be based in Vancouver, BC

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and OBS

  • Strong organization, time management and planning skills

  • Knowledge of esports and familiarity with Call of Duty

  • Superior attention to detail

  • Strong copywriting skills

  • Experience managing Discord servers

NOTE:

This role requires flexibility in scheduling, including occasional weekend shifts. Workdays may vary week to week based on project needs and scheduling requirements. While we strive to provide advance notice, schedules may fluctuate throughout the term. Applicants should have the availability to work weekends as needed.
