Job Description

The Staff Electrical Engineer at Disney Experiences manages electrical projects, from inception to completion, at the Disneyland Resort. Responsibilities include designing medium and low-voltage AC/DC systems, developing construction documents, providing support for immediate projects, authoring proposals, and estimating workloads. The role requires collaboration with internal teams, acting as the Owner's Technical Representative, ensuring compliance with Disney standards and codes, and overseeing field installations. Technical skills include AutoCAD, Revit, and familiarity with relevant electrical codes. The engineer will also partner with internal teams to enforce design guidelines and resolve compliance issues.

Job Description:

As a Staff Electrical Engineer, you will manage from inception, development, implementation and execution of some medium voltage (12kV) through a variety of lower voltage (480V and below) AC and DC electrical projects, elevation and enhancing the many assets at the Disneyland Resort. You will develop bid level construction documents including drawings and specifications.  Responsibilities include providing support and response to reactionary projects requiring immediate attention. Support the development and authoring of proposals and develop workload estimates with critical path schedule dates to support our project management team.


You will report to the Sr. Manager, MEP Engineering with DLR Architecture & Facilities Engineering. 


Leadership: 

  • In this collaborative role, you will act as Owner’s Technical Representative on projects from concept through sustainment throughout the Disneyland Resort and ancillary properties. 

  • Perform as Owner’s Representative, including witnessing the signing and sealing of construction documents as needed. 

  • Provide engineering guidance and best practices established in Disney Master Design Specifications (DMGS), and other Disney design requirements. 

Management: 

  • Manage the design and development of contract documents of projects with in-house and outside resources to meet project scopes, schedules, and budgets. 

  • Coordinate design activities and monitor field installations and demolition work that comply with specifications and code requirements. 

  • Enforce DMGS and related engineering best practices. 

 Technical Skills: 

  • Use and build your experience to develop concept designs and RFPs (Request for Proposals). 

  • Review drawings, engineering calculations, and specifications and ensure that all projects are designed and executed to applicable local and state codes and statutes. 

  • Review shop drawing submittals and respond to vendor’s requests for information per Resort standards.  

  • Perform site visits to solve problems and minimize schedule impacts. 

 Relationship: 

  • Partner with internal teams to develop, maintain, communicate, and enforce Walt Disney Company design guidelines, standards, master specifications, and details.

  • Assist Project and Design Managers to resolve design compliance issues relating to Project requirements. Validate that all Item Specifications are consistent with products installed before archiving manuals. 

  • Build enhanced communications and expectations to successfully execute all projects. 

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of work experience in related engineering discipline, discipline and field related experience.

  • Experienced with design, procurement, and logistics.

  • Facility (RD&E, CEP, etc.) engineering experience while collaborating with multiple disciplines and asset owners.

  • Proven collaboration and guidance of others (including assigned interns), endeavor in a team environment to ensure a successful product.

  • AutoCAD and Revit experience.

  • Familiar with California Electrical code, IEEE electrical low voltage (Brown, Buff and Red book) , California energy codes (i.e. Title 24), able to develop concepts, further and enhance electrical safety practices, and procedures within electrical engineering design, implementation, and provide overall discipline stewardship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Disneyland College Program or Disney Internship experience.

  • Other Disneyland Resorts Lines of Business (LOB) experience.

  • Lighting design and implementation with certification

  • Food and Beverage design and implementation

Required Education

  • BS Engineering from an ABET accredited university

  • Professional Engineers license in good standing.

The hiring range for this position in California is $123,000.00-$152,500.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
