Job Description

The Technical Artist (MOSAIC) at Ubisoft Singapore will collaborate with vendors to create in-game assets. Responsibilities include defining efficient pipelines, providing technical support to art and tech teams, optimizing workflows, preparing documentation, testing tools and the engine, and mentoring team members. This role requires expertise in 2D/3D art software (Photoshop, Substance Designer, ZBrush, 3DS Max, Maya, Houdini), game engines (Unreal, Unity), scripting languages (Python, C#), and proficiency in at least one area of game development (modelling, texturing, VFX, etc.). The position demands strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Travel to vendor offices is expected.
Must have:
  • 5+ years experience in art, tech art, or programming
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D art software
  • Game engine knowledge (Unreal, Unity)
  • Scripting skills (Python, C#)
  • Pipeline definition and optimization
  • Technical support & mentorship
  • AAA game development experience
Good to have:
  • Leadership and people management experience
  • Experience with Houdini
  • Experience with bug tracking software (Jira) and Perforce

JOB DESCRIPTION

Join our exciting new team, MOSAIC, where we collaborate with vendors around the region to craft stunning in-game assets that will captivate players worldwide. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to work on different projects while being part of a supportive and innovative environment.

As a Senior Technical Artist, you will utilize your hybrid skills to bridge the worlds of the artist and programmer, acting as interpreter, innovator and problem solver. You will collaborate cohesively and efficiently with Directors in the Art, Technical and Production teams to define the pipelines, tools and workflows needed to support and optimize art production. You will be responsible for research, innovation, and the technical guidance to assist the team in delivering the highest technical quality content without compromising on the artistic vision.

What you’ll do:

  • Define, establish efficient and user-friendly pipelines
  • Provide daily technical support to Art, Tech teams and the outsource vendors
  • Collaborate with production and external teams to improve and optimize workflows
  • Prepare and update documentation for content pipelines, tools, features and workflows
  • Be familiar with the graphics design documents and concepts, to be able to determine the graphics technical needs for the projects and act as gatekeeper of budgets, Tech Art constraints and data technical compliance
  • Test the engine, request enhancements, verify all engine-related documents and modify or draft new documents whenever necessary
  • Test tools before they are deployed and ensure that they function properly throughout the production process
  • Be proactive by foreseeing technological issues and needs before they occur
  • Provide constant technical support for tools and the engine to all the team members. Guide and mentor the team to foster skill growth and knowledge sharing.
  • Supervise the graphics design, assist in integration of assets and validation of graphic data in the engine
  • Travel will be expected to vendor offices

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of professional art, technical art, or programming experience
  • An aptitude and drive for innovation, collaboration, decision making and creative problem solving
  • Experience in real-time digital art content creation and artistic workflows
  • Proven technical skills in profiling, performance and optimization
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D art software (Photoshop, Substance Designer, ZBrush, 3DS Max, Maya, Houdini)
  • In-Depth knowledge of game engines (Proprietary, Unreal, Unity)
  • Understanding of scripting languages (Python, C#, Max Script)
  • Familiarity with bug tracking software (JIRA) and management systems (Perforce)
  • Expert level proficiency in one or more areas of game development (Modelling & Texturing, VFX, Lighting, Rendering, Post Processes, Rigging and Animation, Shaders)
  • Industry experience developing AAA titles for current console hardware on all production phases
  • Leadership and people management experience a plus
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, client focused, mentorship and presentation skills
