The Humanities and Arts Department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute is seeking a part-time adjunct Philosophy faculty member to teach a section of “Philosophy 2716: Gender, Race, and Class” from October 20 to December 12, 2025 on Monday and Thursday afternoons. The course consists of an examination of categories used to mark social identities of marked difference, such as gender, race, class, sexuality, ability, species, etc. Candidates should have PhD (or ABD) in Philosophy, Women Studies, Gender Studies, Critical Race Theory, or allied fields.
WPI Philosophy and Religion faculty teach introductory courses, intermediate thematic surveys, and advanced topic seminars. WPI’s PY-RE program has particular strengths in social justice and environmental philosophy; underrepresented philosophical and religious traditions including feminism, critical race theory, and non-Western worldviews; and studies of science, technology, and ethics. We are looking for outstanding scholars, but successful candidates must also demonstrate teaching excellence and versatility as well as an ability to jump into an existing curriculum with creative and critical pedagogical approaches.
