Job Description
The Applications Evaluation Engineer will research and define switching mode power supply topologies based on company product specialties. This role involves developing algorithms for power supply optimization using PI products and contributing to the PI Expert Software Suite. Responsibilities include assisting in new product development, researching new applications for IC products, and designing/developing switching power supply units. The engineer will evaluate power supplies, provide design support and technical advice to customers globally, and author technical application materials for various publications. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering with experience in power supply design or related areas like power converters, management, inverters, analog electronics, control loops, and magnetics design.
Must have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering
- Power Supply Design Engineer experience
- Experience in power electronics design
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Team player

Description
Responsibilities
- Researches and defines switching mode power supply topologies based on the specialties of the company's products
- Helps develop algorithms to automatically optimize power supplies using PI’s products and assist in developing the PI Expert Software Suite
- Assists in new product development and research new applications for both new and older generations of Power Integrations’ IC products
- Designs and develops switching power supply units (psu) using the company's products for design documentation/training material or customer requirements
- Evaluates switching power supplies built with the company’s products
- Provides switching power supply design support and technical advice to the company's customers worldwide
- Researches and write technical application materials for publication and presentation at technical conferences, industry seminars, trade magazines and data books
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Power Supply Design Engineer or design experience in any of the following areas: power converters/conversion/management, switching/switch mode power supply units (psu), inverters, power electronics design equipment, analog electronics design, control loop design and power magnetics design (transformer, chokes or inductors)
- Experience designing power electronic circuitry for industrial electronic equipment or consumer devices is desirable
- Excellent written and oral communications with experience in specification creation, technical report writing and test plans/instructions
- Team player
