Our direct fintech client is looking for someone to join the Compliance team to be responsible for ensuring adherence to US and international AML regulatory requirements related to Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD). This is a 6 – month contract + extension and possible convert to perm. The team is located in California, and the role is fully remote. Onward Search provides benefits for 40 hour work week and weekly paychecks (W2) for duration of the contract.
Compliance Analyst Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary escalation point for questions and complex issues arising during EDD reviews conducted on newly onboarded institutional customers, existing customers triggering for EDD, and during Periodic Reviews. Provide expert guidance and interpretation of regulatory requirements related to customer due diligence and EDD.
- Operationalize and standardize Compliance’s EDD policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with US and international regulatory requirements, including but not limited to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and sanctions regulations. Maintain and update these policies and procedures as regulatory changes occur.
- Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, including Customer Experience (CX)/IOS teams, and external vendor partners to streamline processes and optimize CX operations. This includes gathering feedback, fostering strong relationships, and identifying opportunities to enhance customer service while maintaining compliance.
- Work closely with Audit and Compliance Monitoring & Testing teams to ensure established controls and procedures are adhered to. Identify potential gaps in controls and implement appropriate updates and corrective actions. Participate in internal audits and regulatory examinations as needed.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external partners in a clear, organized, and insightful manner. Prepare and present reports on EDD trends, issues, and quality defects.
- Utilize an in-depth understanding of workflows to analyze and report on trends, issues, and quality defects within the EDD process. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Compliance Analyst Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field.
- 2+ yeasrs’ proven experience in compliance, preferably within the financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of US and international regulatory requirements related to AML, KYC, sanctions, and other relevant regulations.
- Experience conducting and reviewing Enhanced Due Diligence investigations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with compliance software and database systems is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or other relevant compliance certifications.
- Experience working with institutional clients.
