Job Description

The Director of Sales at Qualcomm will lead product, pricing, and investment strategies for Dell's products based on the Snapdragon product portfolio. They will manage relationships with product management executives and the procurement team, ensuring alignment across functional groups at the PC OEM, as well as internal teams. This role involves bridging sales, marketing, and product teams at Qualcomm and the PC OEM to drive sales and influence product decisions. The candidate will be responsible for understanding the current sales strategy, product roadmap, and market dynamics and will need to have exceptional communication skills and experience in selling components to PC OEM customers.
Must have:
  • 8+ years of sales or product management of complex technology products.
  • Solid understanding of the PC market, including OEMs and AI.
  • Strategic account management expertise and ability to manage change.

General Summary:

The Director of Sales is a leader responsible for driving the product, pricing and investment strategy to ensure Dell’s commitment to future products designed on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon product portfolio as well as other products in the portfolio such as connectivity that increase the business opportunities.  It is important to ensure QC channel and partner sales team as well as Dell’s sales influencers understand the current roadmap and associated sales strategy along with the transition to the upcoming portfolio and any adjustments to the strategy required to build on the present sales momentum.  Product responsibilities will span consumer and commercial products.  

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will own the product management executives and on down to the appropriate level to reach the product goals desired.  The person will also manage the worldwide procurement team at the customer.  It will be key to ensure pricing, engineering investment, marketing budget and sales programs are in place and understood by all functional groups at the PC OEM such as procurement, product management, merchandising, field training and sales teams so that the total business opportunity is understood and valued by relevant stakeholders.  The person will interact with internal and OEM sales leaders, PC category planners and operations teams across the Americas, Europe/Middle East, Asia Pacific, Japan and PRC to sell through the OEM’s Qualcomm Snapdragon PC platforms.  The sales director will work closely and bridge relationships between sales, marketing, and product teams at Qualcomm with the equivalent leaders at the PC OEM.  The candidate will also be a voice for the PC OEM and influence product decisions inside of Qualcomm based on data-driven recommendations to help Qualcomm delivers the optimal products matched to the market needs.

Skills/Experience

The Sales Director will be skilled in developing relationship at the PC OEM and internally and successful navigate complex organizations globally.  The person must have exceptional communications skills verbally and written so that stakeholders are able to understand the current problem statement and repercussions if not addressed or opportunities and potential outcomes if recommendations are acted on.  The person must be able to build trust internally and externally based on a high “say/do” ratio.  Experience in selling components to PC OEM customers and the understanding of the complexity of the compute industry are required. The understanding of technically complex products and experience on how to position these to a broad audience are critical.
•    8+ years of sales, product management or business development of complex technology products in compute businesses with knowledge of global dynamics of ODMs, OEMs as well as external macroeconomic factors that may impact plans
•    A solid of the PC market spanning consumer and commercial, the various OEMs’, the influence of Microsoft and Apple and how AI is introducing new opportunities and challenges.
•    Understanding of the various silicon suppliers along with strengths/weakness of each.
•    Strategic account management expertise, the ability to manage change and the desire to operate effectively across organizations and customers
•    Experience in region sell-through partnerships with PC OEMs
•    Experience in sell-out and go-to-market with OEM regions and channel partners in EMEA, APJ, PRC and Americas regions.
•    Deep knowledge and experience in building financial models that create win-win situations for Qualcomm and our customers
•    Ability to identify emerging opportunities and proactively engage in pre-sales activity
•    Proficient and detailed understanding of supply chain, product development and marketing of compute products such as notebooks and desktops.
•    Experience in negotiating product pricing taking into account other factors such as total Bill of Materials (BOM), BOM tax with some products, etc.
•    Ability to communicate, educate and evangelize both internally and externally
•    Great communication and interpersonal skills.  Ability to not just communicate facts but tell a story with the data that influences stakeholders to move in direction desired.
•    Creative problem solving with strong analytical skills
•    Self-motivated, result-driven, and ability to create meaningful dashboards to keep leadership aware of all issues and opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications
•    Master’s Degree and 8+ years of sales, business development, product development or related work experience.
OR
•    Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of sales, business development, product development or related work experience.
OR
•    High school Diploma or equivalent and 15+ years of sales, business development, product development or related work experience and accomplishments with tangible value that far exceed the lack of a college degree.

Preferred Qualifications
•    Master’s degree in business or technology preferred
•    15+ years in product marketing, sales, or product management in the PC industry

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$200,800.00 - $301,200.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
