Job Summary

Job Description

As a Generalist Designer at Ubisoft, you'll design game features (gameplay rules, progression, combat, AI), collaborate with UX/UI designers, artists, and engineers on UI solutions, and conceptualize original ideas for user-friendly designs. You'll define the game's visual UI identity, create wireframes, user flows, and UI elements, communicate designs technically for implementation, and incorporate user feedback. Responsibilities include prototyping, adapting to constraints, fixing bugs, maintaining design documentation, and post-launch follow-up. Mobile gaming experience is a must.
Must have:
  • 3-5 years' experience in game production (mobile experience required)
  • Proficient in 2D software (Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD)
  • UI/UX design skills (wireframing, prototyping, style guides)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work with technical constraints
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of a scripting language
  • Experience with Test-driven development

Job Description

· Design features aligned with the creative and game directions (e.g., gameplay rules, progression systems, combat systems, player attributes, artificial intelligence behaviors, 3Cs, etc.).

· Collaborate with other UX/UI designers, artists, game designers and engineering to propose and implement UI solutions for the functionality, visuals, signs, feedback and UX to ensure product consistency, for a seamless top-notch experience.

· Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks.

· Define and create the entire visual identity of our game’s UI from the ground up.

· Create wireframes, user flows, logic, layout, UI elements, iconography, process flows, etc. to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas supporting gameplay features and accessibility principles.

· Communicate designs in a technical manner for programming implementation.

· Account for user feedback and the efficient use of user research services to optimize the game experience.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate your assigned features.

· Handy Developing paper, physical or in-engine prototypes and evaluating the design.

· Adapt to technical and production constraints, reworking your design when and as often as needed.

· Participate in finding solutions to fix buggy features.

· Create and maintain design documentation that will guide interdependent teams.

· Follow up on features post-launch to improve, add, or remove components.

Qualifications

· A college diploma in Game Design or equivalent (undergraduate degree an asset)

· At least 3-5 years of experience in video game production or related experience

· Experience in the mobile gaming industry is required.

· Ability to use a business and user-centric approach to design.

· Demonstrated ability to innovate and design exceptional user experiences.

· Graphic design skills: sketching, wire framing and storyboarding abilities on paper and screen.

· Good technical skills in 2D software. Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD.

· Execution of Information Architecture, wireframes, prototypes, and graphical style guides.

· Ability to clearly and effectively communicate and collaborate with other designers, artists, programmers to ensure delivery of the best possible User Experience.

· Positive attitude with the ability to receive and provide objective feedback

· Critical thinking, curiosity, resourcefulness, and plenty of flexibility

· Genuine love for Games and the Craft of making them.
