About the Team
Our Intellectual Property (IP) team, a core part of the Legal & Government Relations Department, is committed to building a safe, trusted, and compliant global e-commerce platform. We are dedicated to protecting the rights of intellectual property owners and our growing Brand Relations function is the strategic bridge between our platform and key stakeholders in the IP ecosystem. We are looking for a passionate and experienced IP legal professional to help us enhance our marketplace's reputation.
About the Role
We're seeking a dynamic Legal Counsel with deep expertise in intellectual property law to join our Brand Relations function in Europe. In this pivotal role, you will be on the front lines, building and nurturing crucial relationships with rights owners, industry associations, and other platforms. This is more than a legal position—it's a chance to actively shape our brand protection strategy and solidify our reputation as a trusted partner for brands worldwide.
This is an unparalleled opportunity for an experienced IP lawyer to directly influence a core function within our department. If you thrive in a fast-paced, constantly evolving global environment and are passionate about solving complex online intellectual property issues, we want to hear from you.
What you will accomplish
- Forge strategic partnerships: You will be the primary point of contact for external IP partners, including brand protection teams, trade associations, and legal counterparts at other platforms.
- Drive IP strategy: You will collaborate with a cross-functional internal team to develop and execute innovative IP enforcement strategies and initiatives.
- Be our voice: You will represent the company in industry forums, workshops, and working groups focused on IP enforcement and brand protection.
- Resolve complex issues: You will handle escalated rights owner complaints with a high level of sensitivity and legal expertise.
- Build for the future: You will contribute to the design and implementation of new IP protection programs and platform features from a brand relations perspective.
- Stay ahead of the curve: You will monitor trends in the IP legal and regulatory landscape and proactively advise internal stakeholders on upcoming changes.
What you will bring
We are looking for a seasoned IP professional with a proven track record. This role demands extensive experience and a passion for navigating the complexities of intellectual property in a digital marketplace.
- You are a qualified attorney in the UK, Germany, France, or Italy.
- You have a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience as an intellectual property attorney, with a demonstrable and deep understanding of intellectual property law, particularly in advisory work related to trademarks, copyrights, and design rights. Experience with an international law firm is a significant plus.
- You have in-house experience with a luxury, fashion, or major consumer brand, especially in a brand protection or legal advisory capacity.
- You have an established network within the European IP enforcement community, including brand protection associations and EU-level initiatives.
- You have direct experience engaging with online platforms and a strong grasp of e-commerce IP protection mechanisms.
- You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex legal concepts to diverse audiences and build trust with internal and external partners.
- You are comfortable with ambiguity, capable of applying the law to novel situations, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- You are a proactive, independent problem-solver with strong project leadership and multitasking skills.
- Fluency in English is required. Fluency in another major European language (e.g., German, French, Italian) is highly advantageous.
