Job Description

As a Senior Environment Artist, you will be responsible for creating high-quality environment assets and contributing to the development of immersive worlds for players to explore in the game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. You will focus on creating realistic assets and environments with attention to detail, scale, and perspective. You will also collaborate with Level Designers and mentor team members, providing feedback and helping with their growth and development. The role requires strong collaboration and communication skills. The candidate will work as part of a team building out the exciting world of Pandora, communicating the project's vision through tone and style inspired by the project’s narrative and design.
Must have:
  • Experience creating high-quality environment assets for AAA projects
  • Portfolio with world-building or environment art pieces
  • Knowledge of industry-leading 3D modelling packages
  • Examples of collaboration with Level Designers
  • Understanding of Physically Based Rendering systems
Good to have:
  • Prior experience as a mentor or managing direct reports

The Role

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora™ is a first person, action-adventure game developed Ubisoft in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney. Built using the latest iteration of the Snowdrop engine, and developed exclusively for the new generation of consoles and PC, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora brings to life the alluring world of Pandora with all of its beauty and danger in an immersive, open world experience.

As a Senior Environment Artist you are passionate about crafting beautiful realistic assets and bringing them together to build amazing worlds for our players to explore. You have an eye for scale, perspective and detail, and love to get stuck into the complexity and high-priority assets, ensuring the accuracy of buildings and external environments. As a Senior Artist you are passionate about your craft, and thrive on mentoring team members, giving constructive feedback through peer review sessions to enable their growth and development.

  • Demonstrable experience creating high-quality environment assets for AAA projects;
  • A portfolio consisting of world-building or environment art pieces;
  • In-depth knowledge of industry-leading 3D modelling packages;
  • Examples of collaboration with Level Designers;
  • Excellent understanding of Physically Based Rendering systems;
  • Prior experience as a mentor or managing direct reports is preferable, but not essential;
