Monomi Park, headquartered in San Mateo, CA, are the creators of Slime Rancher and Slime Rancher 2, both critical and commercial successes with over 17 million players worldwide. Monomi Park is committed to creating inclusive and innovative gaming experiences that defy expectations. We are small but mighty with 40+ team members scattered across the US (with some international team members). The Challenge
We’re looking for a Senior Game Engineer. You are highly experienced in Unreal Engine, have a deep understanding of game development principles and possess the ability to solve complex technical challenges. This is a hybrid role from our headquarters in San Mateo, CA that requires 3 days in office.
In this role, you will…
- develop complex gameplay systems, mechanics and features using Unreal Engine, ensuring they align with the project’s vision
- work closely with game designers, artists and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, gameplay mechanics and technical specifications
- conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve performance and resolve bugs
- collaborate with the technical team to solve complex technical challenges, optimize performance and improve the overall quality of the game
- mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, fostering their growth and development in Unreal Engine and game development practices
- contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools and workflows, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and productivity

As you make your mark here, you will…
- be our primary expert on all things Unreal
- coach, mentor and hype up our junior engineers as they level up in game development
To succeed, you should have:
- shipped at least one game
- 8+ years of experience in game development
- 4+ years of experience in Unreal Engine 4 and/or 5, including Blueprints and C++
- experience in developing 3D single-player and multiplayer games, guiding features, systems and tools from concept to launch
- proficiency in source control, ticketing and test frameworks
- creative mindset and strong problem-solving skills to overcome complex challenges
- self-motivated and proactive, capable of working independently while contributing to a highly collaborative team
- exceptional communication skills, including writing technical documentation and working with non-engineers
- strong mentoring abilities with a passion for sharing knowledge
- bonus points if you have experience with
- Player Controller and Movement features
- Procedural Generation
- Enemy AI Logic
- working in an agile, flexible development environment and contributing to major team decisions

For local San Francisco Bay Area candidates with 8 to 12 years of direct experience, the starting base pay salary range is $175,000 - $200,000 in addition to a target annual bonus. The final base pay will be determined by individualized factors such as candidate location, skills and level of experience. For highly qualified candidates outside of the area, we will offer relocation assistance with specific details to be discussed during the hiring process.
