Job Description

McDonald's Global Technology is seeking Software Engineer III - iOS to join their team in Mexico City. This role involves writing robust and maintainable code, providing guidance on design, and collaborating with other engineers. Responsibilities include contributing to all aspects of the agile development lifecycle, ensuring quality through automation and unit testing, and improving app performance using profilers. The ideal candidate will have a passion for quality, security, and customer experience, working in an agile, startup-like environment. The team is focused on technological innovation to enhance customer and crew experiences, utilizing AI, robotics, and emerging tech.
Good To Have:
  • Experience with native tools (profilers) and third-party tools (New Relic, SonarQube, DataDog)
  • Leadership abilities in driving operational excellence
Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with Swift, SwiftUI, Objective C
  • iOS platform frameworks knowledge
  • B2 English proficiency (written and spoken)
  • Experience with SDLC (analysis, design, implementation, testing)
  • Experience with Unit testing
  • Experience with Git for version control
  • Solid knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals
  • Experience debugging production applications
  • Passion for customer experience
  • Commitment to security and privacy in coding

    Job Description

    • Writing robust and maintainable code.
    • Provide guidance on design making sure all business requirements are addressed
    • Collaborate with other engineers, be mentor that actively helps the team in development and best practices. Assist the team when blocked, and drive them towards a decision, managing divergent views.
    • Collaborate within a development team, assisting end to end. Contribute to all aspects of the agile development life cycle including design, development, documentation, testing and operations. Always seeking to improve the team velocity through leadership.
    • Ensure quality through automation testing and unit testing, maintaining and improving the code coverage.
    • Improve the app using profilers, ensuring the best use of network, CPU and memory.
    • Provide guidance on NFR1
    • Have a passion for quality making sure the team adheres to acceptance criteria, focusing on security and privacy for our customers. Leading the team in the RCA of issues.
    • Continuously improves the logging and monitor metrics in the app, delivering always feel-good moments to our customers.
    • Work in an agile, startup-like development environment, where you are always working on the most important priorities. Steer and communicate early when priorities and/or delivery times overlap. Build relationships outside of the team and showcases the team skills in engineering team.
    • Model your team based on McDonald’s company values, fostering growth on the development team through constructive feedback and concrete goals.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent years of experience.
    • At least 5 or more years of non-internship professional software development experience.
    • Programming experience with Swift, SwiftUI, Objective C (desirable) and iOS platform frameworks.
    • B2 English proficiency, written and spoken is required.
    • Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Analysis, design implementation, testing, evolution.
    • Experience with Unit testing.
    • Experience on version control tools, mainly focused on Git.
    • Solid knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals (object and protocol-oriented paradigms, design patterns, data structures and algorithms).
    • Solution-oriented attitude and ability to solve tough problems in a collaborative, cross functional, and fast-paced environment.
    • Experience debugging production applications, using native tools (profilers) as well as third party tools (New Relic, SonarQube, DataDog, etc).
    • Passion for customer experience.
    • Commitment on security and privacy when coding.
    • Uncompromising attention to detail, passion for quality and drive to continuously improve the product.
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities in an engineering environment in driving operational excellence and best practices.
