We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

As a MTS 2, Software Engineer, you will:
• Build robust backend systems from concept to completion.

• Drive innovation and process improvement. At PayPal, Software Engineers are the architects of our global payment platform. You'll design, develop, and optimize core systems that power millions of transactions daily, directly impacting our customers' experiences and our company's success.

Job Description:

What you need to bring:

• 8+ years of professional experience in software development, with a proven experience in backend development in TypeScript and Java.
• Experience with modern data warehousing technologies (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Apache Iceberg) and has informed perspectives on their advantages, limitations, and how they fit into evolving data architectures.
• High proficiency and strong skills in Cloud Technologies, object-oriented, and functional programming, and familiarity with AWS Lambda, Dynamo DB, and hands-on Typescript experience.
• Experience in building high-scale, high-throughput, low-latency systems.   
• Strong problem-solving skills, possessing the ability to work independently or collaboratively to analyze and address complex technical challenges.
• Experience with modern software development practices, version control systems, and agile methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Proven track record of collaborating with teammates in non-technical roles, such as marketing, finance, and legal.

The US national annual pay range for this role is $152,500 to $262,350

For the majority of employees, PayPal's balanced hybrid work model offers 3 days in the office for effective in-person collaboration and 2 days at your choice of either the PayPal office or your home workspace, ensuring that you equally have the benefits and conveniences of both locations.
