Job Description

The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of software products and supporting systems at ANSYS, Inc. This role involves collaborating with expert professionals to understand customer requirements and achieve development objectives. Responsibilities include performing moderately complex development activities such as designing, implementing, maintaining, testing, and documenting software modules and sub-systems, adhering to best practices. The engineer will also verify moderately complex bugs, conduct release testing, and provide beta support, researching and developing solutions for issues identified by QA or product support. Understanding marketing requirements, including target environments, performance criteria, and competitive issues, is also key. The role operates under the general supervision of a development manager, with the company's mission being to power innovation that drives human advancement.
Must have:
  • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in a relevant field OR Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience
  • Experience with Finite Element simulation (LS-DYNA, Ansys)
  • Experience with C++, Python, and front-end UI
  • Experience with Data structure, algorithms, and object-oriented design
Good to have:
  • CAD modeling

SUMMARY

ANSYS, Inc. seeks R&D Engineer II to work in Canonsburg, PA

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of software products and supporting systems.
  • In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to understand customer requirements and accomplish development objectives.
  • Performs moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems.
  • Understands and employs best practices.
  • Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products.
  • Research problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions.
  • Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues.
  • Works under the general supervision of a development manager.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Applied Optics, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study.
  • Alternate Acceptable Education and Work Experience Requirement: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Applied Optics, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study, and two (2) years of experience in a related position.
  • Work experience or academic coursework must have included:
    • C Experience with Finite Element simulation including LS-DYNA, Ansys, and CAD modeling;
    • Experience with C++, Python, and front-end UI;
    • Experience Data structure, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
