Job Description

The Sr. Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the electrical system design and validation for high-profile product development efforts. This role involves collaborating with internal and external teams to develop electrical designs and automate validation tests. The engineer will be expected to independently manage the full electrical system development process, from circuit design to validation testing and automated test development. This includes building and maintaining the hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure, collaborating with manufacturing partners, leading hardware debug and issue resolution, and anticipating and responding to manufacturing challenges. This role requires approximately 15% domestic and international travel.

Sr. Electrical Engineer

San Mateo, CA

We are building a small team of dedicated and hard-working leaders to create new peripheral products for the PlayStation community. We need a forward-thinking and innovative EE to craft our next-generation systems.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will contribute to the electrical system design and validation for high profile product development efforts. This senior engineer will work closely with a team including internal and external members to develop the electrical design and automate the validation tests. 

  • Comfortable operating independently as a self starter for the full electrical system development process from circuit design through to validation testing and automated test development in the lab.
  • Build and maintain the hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure to support detailed testing and rapid iteration.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing partners from concept to mass production.
  • Lead hardware debug and issue resolution with partner teams and companies.
  • Anticipate and respond to challenges in manufacturing.

Skills:

  • Experienced with consumer products and new product development.
  • Familiar with EE and acoustic bench test equipment for lab testing and debugging.
  • Familiar with automated test software development, including python or similar scripting languages.
  • Effective bridging from a small core team working with and within large organizations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of electrical design and validation in consumer electronics.
  • Experience working with overseas manufacturing partners, and remote development teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Experience in the video game industry is not required, but interest and passion for gaming experience, digital entertainment, consumer electronics, and technology is vital

Working Conditions:

  • Small team environment; feels like a start-up within a large organization!
  • Travel (domestic and international) required. Estimated 15%

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
