Job Description

The Sr. Localization Editor (Portuguese) at Nintendo of America edits in-game text, voice scripts, manuals, and other materials, ensuring grammatical accuracy, stylistic consistency, and cultural relevance. Responsibilities include fact-checking, creating style guides, collaborating with proofreaders and other editors, and understanding US, French-Canadian, or Latin American localization issues. The role requires native fluency in English and Portuguese, familiarity with localization tools, and a minimum of two years of experience or relevant certification.
Must have:

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
  • Edits in-game text, voice scripts, manual text, package copy, game summaries, and other materials as
    needed.
  • Edits text and makes recommendations regarding grammar, spelling, style, voice, content, and
    consistency.
  • Researches franchise history and fact-checks content.
  • Creates and maintains department style guides, character sheets and other editorial guidelines.
  • Edits manuals, packaging, websites, social media posts and other game-related consumer-facing content.
  • Collaborates with proofreaders and copy editors to review game content consistently and efficiently.
  • Collaborates with other editors by creating process efficiencies and leveraging resources.
     

SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of two years related experience or professional editing certification.
  • Familiarity within French Canadian/Latin American history, culture and customs.
  • Familiarity with localization translation/translation tools.
  • Awareness and understanding of US, French-Canadian or Latin America localization issues and market preferences.
  • Requires full proficiency gained through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience to perform a range of tasks.
  • Requires a broad understanding of the job and applies skills and knowledge in a range of processes, procedures and systems, or requires deep administrative or analytical/technical skills in a single area.
  • Undergraduate degree in required language, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism or equivalent experience.
  • Native fluency in English and required language.
 
Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States to be considered. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
 
This position is hybrid in Redmond, WA. Hybrid positions require regular onsite work following the schedule and guidelines for their division. This position is not open to fully remote status at this time.
  
 
This position includes a base pay range of $28.12 - $44.95 per hour, potential for a semi-annual discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off. Please see our  for more benefits information.
