As an Ad Platform Technical Operations Senior Solutions Engineer, you will be responsible for owning day-to-day technical operations for the Automated Marketplace at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology (DEET). This role involves ensuring monitoring and alerting are in place, responding to production incidents and new product launches, triaging and resolving escalations, investigating complex issues, and developing partnerships with various teams to drive strategic and tactical channel objectives. You will also maintain documentation, contribute to best practices, and be a leader within the team.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of experience in ad technology, operations, support, or incident management
  • Deep understanding of Exchanges, Real-time Bidding, DSP, SSP, 1st & 2nd price auctions, PMP & PG
  • Solid understanding of online video and display advertising and monetization
  • Working knowledge of ad trafficking workflows in enterprise Ad Server
  • Experience managing a support ticket queue
  • Fluency in SQL
  • Working knowledge of monitoring platforms
Good to have:
  • Experience with AWS Athena, DynamoDB, MySQL, Snowflake, or Hive
  • Experience shipping multiple products in an agile software development environment
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication, time management and organizational skills

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology (DEET) Ad Platforms is responsible for delivering global advertising technology solutions for Disney's Linear & Addressable channels, brands and streaming services. As an Ad Platform Technical Operations Senior Solutions Engineer supporting the Ad Platforms technology team at Disney, you are a part of a high performing team redefining TV advertising. We’re seeking an ambitious Senior Solutions Engineer who will be responsible for owning day-to-day technical operations for the Automated Marketplace at DEET. Our successful candidate enjoys solving complex & technical problems, is an innately investigative thinker, works with a sense of urgency, has experience with critical service operations and strives to provide a high standard of customer satisfaction in high volume, production environments. The team is fast moving and requires you to translate technology solutions into business impact, while efficiently working with developers, sales, product and operations. For this particular role, you should be well versed in ad technology and distributed systems and comfortable getting into the details of operational mechanics. You will be accountable for the monitoring, health and growth of the Automated Marketplace.

What You’ll Do

  • Responsible for owning day-to-day technical operations for the Ad Platforms Technical Operations team Automated Marketplace and Core Ad Serving integrations

  • Ensure monitoring and alerting on production services are in place, and be available on-call for production incidents and new product launches

  • Triage, respond to and de-escalate inbound escalations (tickets) in a timely manner while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and client satisfaction

  • Investigate complex issues, diagnose product bugs, and resolve requests

  • Develop strong partnerships with sales, support, engineering, product management and analytics leaders to drive focus on strategic and tactical channel objectives

  • Maintain detailed support documentation for both internal and external use to strategically identify and understand trends

  • Contribute to the development of best practices, team processes, and peer training

  • Be a leader by example within the team

Who You Are

You’re a strong communicator who understands the core principles of advertising technology; preferably with focus in video. Additionally, you’re

  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work well individually and as part of a team. Have a “do what it takes” attitude.

  • Ability to think on your feet during challenging situations, adaptable to change, and thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience shipping multiple products in an agile software development environment

  • Impeccable written and verbal communication, time management and organizational skills

  • Strong analytical skills and passionate about answering questions with data

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in ad technology, operations, support or incident management.

  • Deep understanding of Exchanges, Real-time Bidding, Demand Side Platforms, Supply Side Platforms, 1st and 2nd price auctions, Programmatic Marketplaces (PMP) and Programmatic Guaranteed (PG) deal types

  • Strong grasp of online video and display advertising and monetization.

  • Solid understanding of IAB specs OpenRTB, VAST/VPAID/VMAP

  • Working knowledge of ad trafficking workflows in an enterprise Ad Server like Google Ad Manager, Freewheel or similar system

  • Experience managing a support ticket queue in JIRA, Zendesk, or similar system.

  • Fluency in SQL. Experience with AWS Athena, DynamoDB, MySQL, Snowflake, or Hive

  • Working knowledge of monitoring platforms (Cloudwatch, Datadog, Pagerduty or similar platforms)

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant years of experience required. Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business or in a related discipline preferred.

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA and New York, NY is $129,900 to $174,100 per year and in Santa Monica, CA is $124,000 to $166,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
