Job Description

The FP&A Intern will work under the Senior FP&A Manager for the USA Defense & Space organization at CAE USA. The intern will be responsible for performing monthly departmental budget analysis, analyzing profit-and-loss income statements, balance sheets, and preparing reports. They will also conduct financial and economic analysis, support monthly financial forecasting and annual financial planning processes, and develop strategies to utilize financial information systems. The role requires a student from a local university or college with a GPA of 3.2 or greater, majoring in Finance, Accounting, or a related business field. The intern will also work independently on special projects.
Must have:
  • Student in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • U.S. Citizen.
Good to have:
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of SQL.

Summary 

FP&A Intern working under the Senior FP&A Manager for the USA Defense & Space organization at CAE USA.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform Monthly departmental budget analysis 

  • Analyzes profit-and-loss income statements, balance sheets and prepares reports on findings to inform budgeting and cost recommendations to management. 

  • Conducts cadenced and ad hoc financial and economic analysis and forecasting through use of financial models and evaluates alternate financial plans 

  • Develop and implement strategies to best utilize the financial information systems available to provide the most accurate, timely and reliable sources for financial reporting and analysis 

  • Support monthly financial forecasting and annual financial planning processes 

Qualifications and Education Requirements 

  • Student from a local university or college wishing to gain technical knowledge and experience in a working environment.  

  • GPA of 3.2 or greater  

  • Currently an undergraduate Junior or Senior currently obtaining an MBA/Master’s degree 

  • Majoring in Finance, Accounting, or related business field 

  • Flexible work schedule 

  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role. 

Preferred Skills 

  • Strong critical thinking with the ability to develop solutions to complex challenges 

  • Excellent communications and organizational skills 

  • Ability to research, organize and analyze financial data 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint. SQL knowledge is a plus 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 

  • Ability to multi-task as required 

  • Ability to work independently on special projects 

  • Ability to work in an environment that supports employees from all backgrounds and fosters an environment of inclusion. 

Security Responsibilities 

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.  

  •  Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance. 

 

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.  

 

Work Environment 

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.  

Must be able to perform in an in office setting as well as a remote setting with little oversight

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  

  • Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking. 

  • Shifts and/or schedules may change throughout the year as dictated by management and business needs 

  • May be required to sit and review information on a computer screen for long periods of time 

  • May require repetitive motions of the hands and wrist related to writing and typing at an electronic keyboard 

  • Extended working hours may be required as dictated by management and business needs
