Job Description
Sofar is seeking a Global Social Media & Content Intern based in Boston or New York City. The intern will play a key role in shaping and growing Sofar's global presence on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. This role offers hands-on experience in content creation, storytelling, and audience engagement, aiming to keep Sofar trend-forward and culturally relevant to a Gen Z audience. The intern will collaborate with the global content team to test new creative formats, highlight artists and events, and contribute to Sofar's online voice. The ideal candidate lives and breathes social media, is interested in trends, music, and internet culture, and possesses a creative point of view.
Must have:
- Trendspotting and ideation for social media content.
- Content creation and curation for TikTok and Instagram.
- Video editing skills (Premiere Pro, CapCut, or similar).
- Strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram Reels, and Gen Z culture.
- Comfortable filming content at live events.
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program.
Good to have:
- Experience running a personal or brand TikTok/IG account.
- Passion for digital storytelling, live music, and creative content.
- Creative thinker with a sense of humor and an eye for aesthetic.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Sofar is a global community reimagining the art of live experiences—turning unconventional spaces into intimate showcases for local grassroots art and culture.
Born in a London flat in 2009, Sofar began as an answer to a growing problem: live music had lost its magic. It blossomed into a global movement that kept music at its heart while expanding to comedy, dating, food & drink, dance, and more—all connected by Sofar’s renowned track record for discovering rising talent. Countless mainstage performers like Billie Eilish, Jack Harlow, Chappell Roan, Leon Bridges, YEBBA, Teddy Swims, Remi Wolf, Hozier, and Lola Young have played Sofar shows early in their careers. In the past four years alone, Sofar alumni have earned 129 Grammy nominations and 21 wins.
Each Sofar show is one-of-a-kind due to the surprising pairing of live experiences with unconventional spaces. Sofar has hosted shows in caves; churches; hidden museum rooms; private living rooms, gardens, and rooftops; a ski jump tower; countless boats, ships, and catamarans; a toy shop; a wax museum; and many other delightful places.
The Role
As a Global Social Media & Content Intern based in Boston or NYC, you'll play a key role in shaping and growing our presence on our global platforms like TikTok and Instagram (@sofarsounds). This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in content creation, storytelling, and audience engagement while helping us stay trend-forward and culturally relevant to a Gen Z audience. You’ll work closely with our global content team to test new creative formats, highlight our artists and events, and help us shape the voice of Sofar online.
This internship is perfect for someone who lives and breathes social media, is obsessed with trends, music, and internet culture, and has a creative point of view on what makes content scroll-stopping.
Please note: this is a fixed term 6-8 week contract from July to August 2025, where the expectation is you will work 14-16 hours every week.
What you'll do
- Trendspotting & Ideation:Stay on top of emerging TikTok trends, sounds, memes, and formats. Brainstorm and pitch weekly content ideas that align with Sofar’s brand while tapping into relevant cultural conversations.
- Content Creation & Curation: Capture content at Sofar shows to be used on TikTok and Instagram. Edit video clips into short-form, high-performing content tailored to each platform. Draft creative captions and audio pairings that are in sync with Gen Z tone and trends.
- Social Engagement: Engage with fans and artists across platforms via comments and DMs. Monitor and report on content performance and audience feedback to help shape future posts.
- Content Calendar Support: Collaborate with the global team to contribute to a content calendar. Assist in planning the timing and rollout of global social initiatives.
- Project Management & Reporting: Assist in managing 100+ global social media accounts through Meta Business Suite. Track, compile, and present performance analytics to help inform content strategy. Help streamline workflows by supporting internal coordination, planning, and delivery of cross-market campaigns.
Who you are:
- Passion for digital storytelling, live music, and creative content.
- Strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram Reels, and Gen Z internet culture.
- Video editing skills (Premiere Pro, CapCut, or similar).
- Creative thinker with a sense of humor and an eye for aesthetic and tone.
- Comfortable attending and filming content at live events (evenings/weekends).
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Enrollment in a college or university program is required.
- Bonus: Experience running a personal or brand TikTok or IG account with measurable engagement.
