TikTok seeks a Legal Counsel for Content Moderation based in Singapore. This role requires collaboration with the Trust & Safety team and other lawyers to provide legal advice on government takedown/data disclosure requests, developing compliance strategies, and supporting their implementation. Responsibilities also include assessing regional content regulations, developing compliance strategies, supporting global policy development, advising on Trust & Safety product matters, and collaborating with government affairs and communications teams. The ideal candidate is a qualified lawyer with extensive experience in content moderation, regulation, and online safety, preferably from a private practice, legal department, or Trust and Safety function of an internet company. Strong communication, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills are essential.

Must have:

Qualified lawyer (Singapore, US, EU, UK, or other jurisdiction)
Extensive experience in content moderation and regulation
Government takedown/data disclosure request handling
Compliance strategy development and implementation
Fluent in English

About the Team: Our legal team provides key support for all TikTok’s innovative initiatives, state-of-the-art products, and integrated platforms servicing our global video market. We help our technological and business teams enable their vision by providing integrated legal guidance and support. As a result, the TikTok team is growing fast and is seeking an experienced, bright and capable legal professional to join our Global Legal Content Moderation team. In this role, you will work on critical challenges in the areas of content safety, content regulation and government content removal and data access requests. This full-time role is based in Singapore and provides a unique opportunity for an ambitious lawyer with a keen interest in learning about industry defining challenges and new areas of law. Responsibilities: - Work closely with our Trust & Safety team and other in-house lawyers to assess and provide legal advice on takedown or data disclosure requests from governments, develop compliance strategies and support their implementation. - Assess regional and/or local content regulations and laws, develop compliance strategies and support their implementation. - Support TikTok’s efforts to develop global policies and processes regarding content moderation. - Work closely with other in-house lawyers and provide legal advice on Trust & Safety product matters - Work in a cross-functional environment with government affairs, communications and other business professionals on content moderation and content regulatory matters.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - Qualified to practice law and in good standing in Singapore, US, EU, UK, or another jurisdiction. - Extended experience in a highly regarded private practice, legal department or Trust and Safety function of an internet company and with legal work regarding content moderation, content regulation and online safety. - Fluent in English to work with global stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications - Proven performance leveraging cross-functional teams and coordinating activities across multiple business units, organisations, and jurisdictions. - Strong organisational skills with the ability to be flexible and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced, startup environment. - Excellent written and oral communication skills. #LI-Hybrid
