Job Description

Netflix seeks a Manager, Business Development in Korea to lead strategic partnerships with global consumer electronics manufacturers and local partners. Responsibilities include building and maintaining partner relationships, developing strategic roadmaps, executing commercial deals, and collaborating with cross-functional teams for successful implementation. This role involves managing relationships with consumer electronics manufacturers to maximize viewing and member acquisition, forging partnerships with telecom operators to drive membership and viewing, identifying new partnership opportunities, and exploring new territories for growth. The ideal candidate will possess strong business development experience within the technology or media industry, a deep understanding of the streaming video landscape, and proven negotiation skills.

About The Role

In building and scaling our business in Korea, we have established a number of partnerships with key industry players including operators and consumer electronics manufacturers that help us deliver our service worldwide in a consumer-friendly way.  These partnerships have been essential to accelerating Netflix’s expansion in Korea. The partnerships also plays a critical role in contributing to the broader growth of the business in the market, building the groundwork for executing Netflix’s strategy for future business growth.   

You will join the team in Korea and will be primarily focused on leading strategic partnerships with our global consumer electronics and local partners.  You will build and maintain partner relations, form the strategic roadmap for these partnerships, execute commercial deals, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation and maintenance of these partnerships. 

This person will have a high degree of visibility with senior leadership of Netflix management who closely are associated with the strategic partnerships we build and maintain with global consumer electronics manufacturers and large-size operators, for the success of Netflix’s business expansion strategy 

Responsibilities:

  • You will manage relationships with consumer electronics manufacturers across Korea to ensure we get the most out of these partnerships in terms of maximizing viewing for our members and winning new members in an efficient manner.  You will also lead the creation of growth opportunities through collaboration closelly with these partners.  You will work with BD, Partner Engagement, Product, and Marketing colleagues in the US on global relationships with these partners

  • You will forge and manage our partnerships with telecom operators in Korea, building out the partnerships and working with colleagues in Product and Marketing to find new ways to drive Netflix membership and viewing in an efficient manner.

  • You will also identify opportunities and build a strategy to explore new territories where the partners operate, using Netflix’s global scale to create growth efficiently.

  • You will explore new relationships that can efficiently drive membership and viewing and that can be scaled across multiple territories.

The ideal candidate:

  • Strong Netflix culture fit

  • 10+  years minimum experience in Business Development and partnerships with a technology or media company

  • Experience in partnering with the telecom operator, payTV, ISP, consumer electronics, consumer internet, or adjacent industries

  • Deep understanding of streaming video landscape and appreciation for consumer behavior

  • A background in product management/development is a plus

  • Ability to work with cross-functional leaders 

  • Skilled in navigating high-stakes negotiations that result in significant value creation

  • Passion for managing international partnerships

  • Experience with drafting, negotiating, and closing term sheets and contracts

  • Strong performer with high-level of self-organization and prioritization abilities

  • Proficient in both Korean and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Willingness to travel for partner and internal team meetings as needed.
