Responsibilities include overseeing releases, communicating status, defining readiness criteria, collaborating with cross-functional teams, automating processes, and maintaining release artifacts. Strong technical expertise in build systems, version control, and continuous integration is required.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools.
  • Strong Python or scripting skills.
Good to have:
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Ability to manage large data sets.
  • Familiarity with Bazel.

Job Details

The Product Software Release Engineering team is responsible for orchestrating the release process across multiple code bases, including client, cloud, and vehicle systems, from development through production. Our autonomous vehicles depend on seamless software performance for tasks such as trip charging and rider interactions. The effectiveness of these missions directly relies on the stability and scalability of our backend infrastructure.

As a Product Software Release Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the build-and-release process, ensuring the delivery of robust software that powers Zoox’s innovative autonomous vehicles. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to optimize our continuous integration, version control, and build systems, driving efficiency and scalability.

We are seeking engineers with strong technical expertise in build systems, version control, and continuous integration, who are passionate about improving processes and driving excellence in software delivery.

In this role, you will:

    • Oversee and manage releases through development and validation across various environments.
    • Regularly communicate release status, key issues, and updates to management and cross-functional teams.
    • Define and track release readiness criteria and metrics, ensuring all changes meet requirements before deployment.
    • Collaborate with engineering, project management, product, and QA teams to continuously improve the release lifecycle in a data-driven, solutions-focused manner.
    • Proactively identify inefficiencies and automate manual processes to enhance release efficiency.
    • Maintain release artifacts and manage essential information, including build and release procedures and dependencies.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, with a minimum of 6 years of experience as a Release/Build Engineer, managing releases for large and complex products.
    • Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks effectively.
    • Proficiency with source control systems (Git), branch management, and conflict resolution strategies.
    • Experience with change management systems (JIRA preferred) and CI/CD pipelines, including build and deployment tools such as CircleCI, Jenkins, or Bamboo.
    • Strong programming skills in Python or other scripting languages, with a focus on automation and system integration.

Bonus Qualifications:

    • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
    • Proven ability to manage and work with large data sets.
    • Familiarity with Bazel is a plus.
$169,000 - $203,000 a year
Base Salary Range

There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
