Join UNSEEN as a Senior Gameplay Engineer to help create the world of KEMURI. You will define and implement core game systems, bringing expertise in enemies, NPCs, and combat systems. Responsibilities include collaborating with designers and animators, proposing creative solutions, working through feature development stages, creating and maintaining C++ code and blueprints, participating in code reviews, and ensuring clear communication. The role requires excellent engineering skills and cooperative teamwork. This position emphasizes contributing to existing engineering expertise and working on enemy NPC and combat systems.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of professional game development experience as an engineer
  • Excellent C++ proficiency
  • Experience with Unreal Engine
  • Experience in full production cycles of shipped console/PC titles
  • Ability to take ownership of game features and collaborate with design/art teams
  • Ability to process feedback from playtests and QA
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously
  • Great communication skills (verbal and written)
  • English speaking and writing skills
Good to have:
  • Understanding of combat/action gameplay design
  • Experience working with Unreal's Gameplay Ability System
  • Experience using Unreal's AI systems
  • Experience working on a multiplayer game
  • Japanese language proficiency

Job Description

Come join UNSEEN as a Senior Gameplay Engineer! Let's create the world of KEMURI together!

You will help define and implement our core game systems. The ideal candidate for this position possesses excellent engineering skills and engages cooperatively with other team members.

We are looking for a Senior Gameplay Engineer who contribute to the existing expertise within our engineering team and have experience working on enemies NPCs and combat systems.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with designers and animators to implement new enemies actions and behaviors

  • Propose and expand creative ideas and solutions

  • Work on all stages of features development, from prototyping to production, debugging and optimization

  • Create and maintain clean and documented C++ code and blueprints

  • Participate in code reviews and other activities to facilitate team learning and collaboration

  • Maintain a clear and efficient communication with other team members

Skills & Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional game development experience as an engineer

  • Excellent C++ proficiency

  • Experience with Unreal Engine (preferably on 1 or more shipped titles)

  • Experience in full production cycles of 1 or more shipped console/PC titles

  • Ability to take ownership of game features, collaborating with design and art teams to drive iteration that enhance player experience

  • Ability to process feedbacks from playtests and QA

  • Ability to work independently and autonomously, effectively managing tasks and responsibilities to meet project goals

  • Great communication skills (verbal and written)

  • English speaking and writing skills (Japanese is a plus)

+Pluses

  • You must reside within the Japan Standard Time or in close proximity as this position requires consistent teamwork with other members across departments.

  • Understanding of combat/action gameplay design

  • Experience working with Unreal’s Gameplay Ability System

  • Experience using Unreal's AI systems such as Behavior Trees or Environment Query ****

  • Experience working on a multiplayer game
