Job Description

As a Senior Level Artist, you will be responsible for designing memorable locations within a procedural pipeline. This includes creating engaging points of interest, such as ruined villages and mystical caves, ensuring they stand out in a procedurally generated world. You will collaborate with tech and environment teams to develop rules and templates for POI integration. Focus on composition, storytelling, lighting, and environmental storytelling to make POIs immersive and rewarding. Optimize for performance and define artistic benchmarks for the game's visual identity. Ensure that POIs support gameplay mechanics, AI-driven NPC interactions, and dynamic events.
Must have:
  • 3+ years of experience in game industry level/environment art.
  • Strong understanding of procedural generation workflows and tools.
  • Expertise in level design principles, composition, and storytelling.
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5, including lighting and material setup.
  • Ability to balance handcrafted design with procedural logic.
  • Experience working with modular assets and procedural techniques.
  • Knowledge of optimization techniques for game performance.
  • Strong collaboration skills with various teams.
  • Onsite position (EU work authorization required).
Good to have:
  • Experience with Houdini procedural workflows.
  • Previous work on survival, city-building, or sandbox games.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven world interactions.
  • Experience with Voxel Plugin

Your Role

We’re looking for a Senior Level Artist who can design memorable locations within our procedural pipeline, balancing artistic vision with system-driven world generation.


Responsibilities

As a Senior Level Artist, you will:

  • Design & Build POIs: Create engaging points of interest, from ruined villages to mystical caves and ancient cities, ensuring they stand out within a procedurally generated world.
  • Work within a Procedural Framework: Collaborate with the tech and environment teams to develop rules and templates for POI integration into procedural landscapes.
  • Focus on Composition & Storytelling: Utilize lighting, props, architecture, and environmental storytelling to make POIs immersive and rewarding to explore.
  • Collaborate with Design & AI Teams: Ensure that POIs support gameplay mechanics, AI-driven NPC interactions, and dynamic events.
  • Optimize for Performance: Balance artistic quality with technical constraints to ensure seamless integration into an open-world environment.
  • Define Artistic Benchmarks: Help shape the visual identity of the game’s world by defining best practices for level art in a procedural setting.


Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in game industry level/environment art, preferably in open-world or survival games.
  • Strong understanding of procedural generation workflows and tools (e.g., Houdini, Unreal Engine procedural systems).
  • Expertise in level design principles, composition, and environmental storytelling.
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5, including lighting, and material setup.
  • Ability to balance handcrafted design with procedural logic to ensure a natural and engaging world.
  • Experience working with modular assets and procedural placement techniques.
  • Knowledge of optimization techniques, including LODs, asset streaming, and performance debugging.
  • Strong collaboration skills, working closely with game designers, technical artists, and engineers.
  • Onsite position (EU work authorization required).
Nice to have:
  • Experience with Houdini procedural workflows.
  • Previous work on survival, city-building, or sandbox games.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven world interactions.
  • Experience with Voxel Plugin
