You are a Tools Engineer with a proven track record, looking to build the next generation of user generated Mixed Reality and mobile games. You have multiple years of experience with modern game engines (Unity, Unreal) and demonstrable knowledge of content management systems and pipelines. You enjoy working with artists, finding and fixing their pain points, and discovering opportunities to help them do quality work faster. You build scalable, well tested pipelines designed to unchain teams from their constraints and unlock their best work.
Senior Tools Engineer - BigBox Responsibilities
Create software and pipelines within a diverse and highly iterative team environment
Design, develop, test, and maintain quality code and documentation
Work as part of a team, contributing to important design decisions that get implemented into code and services that support the entire studio content pipeline
Develop prototypes and experiments, while researching and recommending novel ideas, new tools, and technologies
Build, maintain, and support internal tools designed to empower content creators
Work with large data sets and distribution pipelines that span multiple cloud solutions, services, and networks
Develop tools and interfaces that are clean, simple, and powerful
Proactively collaborate with artists and engineers to implement new processes, features, to solve content pipeline and scale problems
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Experience completing a shipment cycle for a product
At least 5 years of experience working on a game team
Practical Unity experience or equivalent experience with other modern game engines
Demonstrated experience architecting and working within content pipelines to handle: Character rigging, Art and Animation pipelines, Environment art pipelines
Proven track record of success in working with a cross-functional team
Self directed engineer who actively finds ways to make artist and engineer lives by proactively improving workflows
Aptitude with working with other disciplines with understanding of art workflow
Practical experience scripting in Maya or Blender
Experience developing tooling and processes that leverage source control and continuous deployment workflows
Demonstrated experience planning, executing, and evaluating complex projects where analysis of situations and decision making requires an evaluation of unclear or ambiguous factors
Demonstrated history of making work happen with speed and simplicity by focusing on: Ensure upfront alignment on priorities, roles, responsibilities, and decision making criteria Identify potential roadblocks early and develops plans to mitigate risks Simplify iterations and reviews needed Make decisions that maximize impact while minimizing cost (people, time, resources)
Demonstrated experience identifying important problems and exercises their own judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting User Generated Content services
Experience with VR or AR
Scripting for node based shader graphs and / or texture authoring tools like Substance
Experience profiling and optimizing Unity Editor workflows
Hands on experience documenting, identifying process bottlenecks and implementing tooling that provides significant impact, enabling the team to do more
Experience with TypeScript and React
Experience working with pipelines that leverage AI for content creation
