Job Description

As a Technical Test Engineer at CSG, you will collaborate with a cross-functional team to test features and technology for the CSG Quote & Order product. This role involves developing and executing tests using tools like Karate (API), Cypress (UI), and k6 (Performance). In your first 90 days, you'll become familiar with the system, join a squad, and contribute to new feature development to ensure high-quality outcomes for customers. The responsibilities include composing test plans, executing tests, reviewing requirements, and analyzing root causes. You will also participate in agile ceremonies and work within a multi-skilled squad. This position is part of the team that designs and develops CSG Quote & Order, a cutting-edge order management and quoting (CPQ) platform.
Must have:
  • 2+ years of Software Test Engineer experience
  • Bachelor’s/College Degree, Computer Science/IT
  • Knowledge in software testing methodologies/processes
  • Experience with Test Automation: Writing/maintaining scripts
  • Effective communication and collaborating across multiple teams
Good to have:
  • Familiarity with Cypress, Cucumber & Karate DSL
  • Experience in one or more programming languages (JavaScript/NodeJs)

Our product & team  

This role is within the team that designs and develops CSG Quote & Order, a cutting-edge order management and quoting (CPQ) platform. Built using the latest technology, our platform modernizes industries like telecommunications and banking.

About our technology 

Our product adopts a microservice architecture for scalability and flexibility, using Kafka for event streaming and PostgreSQL for data storage. We use Kubernetes to orchestrate our containers, allowing us to offer cloud (AWS & Azure) and on-premise deployment options of our platform. Our infrastructure is maintained by a state-of-the-art gitops/IaC pipeline. 

In short, we have a really modern platform, and we take our testing very seriously! 

Our testing process leverages automation for both UI and API testing, significantly improving test coverage and efficiency. With Cucumber, we create automation scripts that utilise the behaviour-driven development (BDD) methodology. This allows us to write tests in a straightforward, human-readable format, promoting better understanding and collaboration across our team. Our automation scripts are managed using Git and undergo peer review before being released into the wild.

What you’ll do  

  • Compose test plans, execute tests, review requirements coverage, capture/document test results and use your brain power for root cause analysis.  
  • Use the latest tools like Karate (API), Cypress (UI) and k6 (Performance) as part of our test cycles. 
  • Performs automated and manual test execution for functional, application, regression, and integration tests. 
  • Participate in agile ceremonies such as planning, reviews, stand-ups, demos, retrospectives, etc. 
  • Be part of a multi-skill squad with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers and other Software Testers. 

Role Requirements  

  • 2+ years of Software Test Engineer experience. 
  • Bachelor’s/College Degree, Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent. 
  • Knowledge in software testing and methodologies/processes. 
  • Experience with Test Automation: Writing/maintaining test automation scripts. 
  • Effective communication and collaborating across multiple teams, ensuring understanding of written material. 
  • It's a plus if you are familiar with: Cypress, Cucumber & Karate DSL and have experience in one or more programming languages (preferably JavaScript/NodeJs).

The Quote & Order team does not maintain a dedicated office space, so your position will be 100% remote with the exception of several in-person workshops during the year (in Bali – see below – and Melbourne). 
  • Twice-yearly workshops in Bali: Twice a year the whole Quote & Order team gets together in Bali, Indonesia for dedicated in-person time including team presentations, hackathon sessions, training and team-building activities.
