Job Overview

At Wargaming Belgrade, the World of Warships Web team is looking for a backend developer who goes beyond just writing and maintaining code — someone who can design reliable services, understand their behavior in production, and quickly respond to failures or unusual situations.

Our team is responsible for the development of the Game Portal, referral service, various core and meta-mechanics services, and other game-related web projects. In our work, we follow development best practices, aim for efficiency, care about code quality, and are not afraid to experiment. We achieve 80% unit test coverage for our services and write documentation, both for our future selves and for other teams. We are responsible in our work, strive to be independent and proactive, appreciate the work of others, and would like to see the same qualities in our future teammate. Our main stack is Python (Django, Fast API) on the backend and Vue on the frontend.

What will you do?

• Designing, developing, and maintaining high-load services and various features within the team's domain
• Writing unit tests, documentation, and refactoring existing code to keep it clean and maintainable. Participating in code and technical documentation reviews
• Working on internal open-source projects and R&D activities, contributing to the team’s development culture
• Collaborating closely with a development team (2 frontend and 3 backend developers), a business analyst, product designers, and QA engineers.
• Communicating with other teams and departments. You're not required to work on frontend tasks, but if you're interested, our frontend developers are always happy to help you explore that world

What are we looking for?

• 3+ years of experience with Python (both sync and async)
• Solid knowledge of one of the major frameworks — Fast API or Django
• Ability to build a web service from scratch
• Experience with relational databases (we use PostgreSQL)
• Take responsibility for what you build and maintain — and if you’re not there yet but eager to learn, we’re happy to support you
• Understanding how to deploy and maintain web services in production, familiarity with DevOps practices
• Understanding of microservice architecture and service communication patterns

What additional skills will help you stand out?

• Experience in developing high-load services (or a willingness to gain it)
• Hands-on experience with any of the following: Fast API, Django, Docker, Kubernetes, Redis, Prometheus, Grafana, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Celery
• Familiarity with Linux and basic command-line usage; ability to write Makefiles and bash scripts
