The Business Risk Controls Senior Manager will collaborate with the Technology 1LoD Operational Risk Management team, reporting to the Director, Operational Resilience. This role involves assessing technical risks, working with control owners to ensure controls align with LSEG Group Technology standards, and ensuring compliance with frameworks like COBIT 2019 and NIST. Key responsibilities include performing checks for releases, guiding control owners to improve skills, identifying and remediating gaps in technology standards, assessing technology risk, and building partnerships across various business units. This requires a strong understanding of LSE plc controls and the ability to influence stakeholders.

Job Details

Overview:

The Business Risk Controls Senior Manager will work alongside the existing Technology 1LoD Operational Risk Management team and report into the Director, Operational Resilience – LSE plc and FX in Markets Engineering.

They are responsible for assessing technical risks and working with control owners to ensure that the corresponding key and non-key controls are designed and operating to the LSEG Group Technology standards including risk assessments, reporting and governance into the business facing division.

The role will also ensure compliance to recognise control frameworks such as COBIT 2019, NIST and ITIL.

The technical areas will cover vulnerability management and remediations across the control landscape with focus on tactical and strategic improvements.  The role may also focus on compliance with regulatory aspects of PS21/3 and DORA compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform 1st line check-and-challenge for releases in scope of the LSE plc controls and ensure the SONAR tool correctly reflects the Risk profile.
  • Provide guidance to Control Owners so that, over time, the skills required by control owners are increased to produce better controls in the future.
  • Identify gaps in existing technology standards/processes/procedures resultant from enhanced/upgraded controls and work with control owners to implement those remediations/improvements.
  • Assess technology risk for technology and on behalf of the Business entities with the information technology systems and track solutions/plans in line with the identified control gaps.
  • Build strong partnerships with the various businesses and entities, central COO Technology function & second-line Risk teams to ensure consistency and a high calibre delivery.

Key Skills

Essential

  • A strong understanding of the LSE plc control suite
  • A strong understanding of the outcomes and commitments of the LSE plc s166
  • Strong planning, organisational, and coaching skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the proven ability to work effectively with all organisational levels
  • Excellent at managing and influencing a wide network of stakeholders, including senior management, who can influence and build relationships
  • Willing and able to challenge customers and stakeholders to better understand their needs
  • Excellent documentation skills; ability to create high quality governance committee materials
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent

Desirable
