Job Description

As a Core Platform Python Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining foundational services and applications within the cloud infrastructure. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical guidance to developers, helping shape the future of the core platform with innovative solutions and best practices. The role involves designing and building core services for the Azure cloud platform, providing technical guidance to hundreds of developers, and developing cloud-native applications using Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker. You will also create Python build and deployment pipelines from scratch, lead the implementation of robust systems, and support the development community within the organization.
Must have:
  • Deep understanding of Python programming language.
  • Experience delivering large-scale applications in Python.
  • Proficiency in Object-Oriented programming (Java, C#, C++, or similar).
  • Experience with REST and Streaming APIs.
  • Experience with cloud-native development and container orchestration tools.
  • Familiarity with *NIX platforms and tooling.
  • Expert in Python testing frameworks.
  • Strong software engineering background.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently.
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of financial derivative products.
  • Experience in developing Python deployment pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud services.

Our Challenge
As a Core Platform Python Engineer, candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining foundational services and applications within our cloud infrastructure. Candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide technical guidance to developers, and help shape the future of our core platform through innovative solutions and best practices.

 

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Weehawken, NJ is $130k - $140k /year & benefits (see below).

 

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build core services and applications for our Azure cloud platform
  • Provide technical guidance to hundreds of developers contributing to our million-line codebase.
  • Develop cloud-native applications, working with Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker.
  • Design, build, and consume high-quality REST and Streaming APIs.
  • Create Python build and deployment pipelines from scratch.
  • Lead the implementation of robust, scalable, and secure systems.
  • Support and mentor the development community within the organization.
  • Ensure high standards of code quality and testing using Python testing frameworks.
  • Collaborate within a high-performing, delivery-focused team to meet project goals.
  • Stay current with technological advancements and develop new technical skills.

 

Requirements:

  • Deep understanding of the Python programming language and extensive experience within the Python ecosystem.
  • Proven track record delivering large-scale, complex applications in Python.
  • Proficiency in Object-Oriented programming (Java, C#, C++, or similar).
  • Experience designing, building, and working with production-quality REST and Streaming APIs.
  • Experience with cloud-native development and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker.
  • Familiarity with *NIX platforms and tooling.
  • Expert in Python testing frameworks.
  • Strong software engineering background with a focus on scalable, robust solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

 

Preferred, but not required:

  • Knowledge of financial derivative products and risk management principles.
  • Experience in developing Python deployment pipelines and automation processes.
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud services and related security best practices.
  • Understanding of financial markets and compliance standards.
