Flock Safety is seeking a Cyber Security Operations Manager to lead the protection of networks, systems, and data from cyber threats. This role involves developing and executing proactive security strategies, managing incident response, and fostering cyber resilience. It's a hands-on leadership position requiring deep technical expertise in cybersecurity, experience managing SOC or cyber defense initiatives, and shaping the security strategy for a hypergrowth company. Key responsibilities include overseeing security monitoring, improving detection and response capabilities, collaborating with engineering and IT on preventive controls, acting as an escalation point for security incidents, analyzing threat intelligence, defining metrics, and supporting compliance initiatives.

The Opportunity

Flock Safety is seeking a dynamic and experienced Cyber Security Operations Manager to lead the team responsible for protecting our networks, systems, and data from cyber threats. You will play a critical role in developing and executing proactive security strategies, leading incident response, and fostering a culture of cyber resilience across the organization.

This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone with deep technical expertise in cybersecurity, experience managing SOC or cyber defense initiatives, and shaping the security strategy for a hypergrowth company.

The Skillset

  • Oversee the operation of security monitoring and incident response processes, ensuring timely detection and resolution of threats.

  • Develop and continuously improve Flock Safety’s detection and response capabilities, including playbooks, tools, and automation workflows.

  • Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to implement preventive controls and harden systems and networks.

  • Act as an escalation point and lead investigations during major security incidents and post-incident reviews.

  • Analyze threat intelligence and provide insights to enhance the security posture.

  • Define metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of cyber defense operations.

  • Support compliance initiatives (e.g., CJIS, SOC 2, NIST, ISO 27001) through technical controls and documentation.

  • Contribute to Flock’s security awareness efforts and ensure security best practices are embedded across teams.

  • Hands-on experience with the following security tools: SumoLogic, Abnormal, Sentinel 1, Permiso, Google Workspace/Vault

  • Strong knowledge of cloud security (AWS preferred), endpoint security, network security, and secure software development practices.

  • Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (MITRE ATT&CK, NIST, CIS, etc.).

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to interface with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

90 Days at Flock

The First 30 Days

  • Conduct a current state assessment on cyber defense capabiltiy

  • Build a short, medium, and long term cyber defense roadmap

  • Review and recommend enhancements to incident response operating procedures

  • Establish operating procedures for cyber threat hunting and insider threat

The First 60 Days

  • Lead threat hunting procedures to identify malicious activity on Flock Safety Platforms

  • Lead insider threat operating procedures

  • Conduct rehearsal for playbook for cyber incident scenarios

The First 90 Days

  • Implement and Enhance technology capabilities

  • Conduct enterprise cyber threat response

The Interview Process

  3. The Technical Assessment: Our technical assessments seek to test the hard skills required to do the job. Engineers may find themselves in coding interviews or architecture discussions, sales roles may present mock discovery calls, and leadership roles may craft 90 day plans. Your recruiter will inform you of which assessment you will be assigned and ensure you are fully prepared for your big day.

  4. The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners.

  5. The Executive Review: A chance to meet an executive and view Flock from a different lens. Be prepared to ask well-thought-out questions about the company, culture, and more.

Salary & Equity

In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary between $100,000 and $160,000 as well as Flock Safety Stock Options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in-depth with you during our first chat.
